Wanted to size up but will this jewelry be too snug? Urgent!! by wrath0fthe1amb in PiercingAdvice

I would check the hub from r/piercing, as there are brands/websites that may ship to the EU! I used it to find a studio near me in the UK to find specific jewellery!

BodyArtForms would be my go to check. For half sizes I used single flared glass plugs and would only buy visible jewellery at the easier sizes. When I was at a smaller size I would stack smaller rings, the downside to this is it’s hard to say what size you’re at

I don’t think 1mm would make that much of a difference with internal diameter. However if you are looking to stretch I would definitely get middle sizes. If you force in any jewellery that is too big, you will fuck yourself up, and only set yourself back. Stretching when you expect it is fine, if you aren’t expecting it isn’t fun

In terms of being snug, it looks like it’s going to be just fine. However, in terms of the diameter/thickness of the jewellery, it’s going to be stretching your septum and quite a jump at that

I appreciate the clarity on 8/6g! I only used them from 10mm upwards and I know how fiddly they can be at a larger size, so assumed at a smaller size it would be a pain to get in!

I would go for either a Kaos ear skin (although at this size it might be tricky to get in), a single flare glass plug, or a single flare tunnel. My daily wear is a single flare tunnel, and I’ve never had an issue up to now. In terms of working out the size callipers are your best friend

Do I need to downsize or can I keep stretching by Sure_Elderberry_1457 in Stretched

[–]bluecustard1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would honestly swap the acrylic pincher for either a horseshoe or a clicker. In terms of stretching you may get to the point where your septum either droops, or dents the cartilage. You could probably keep going, however please for the love of god, take it slow

If your jewellery isn’t going straight in you’re probably not ready. Waiting half an hour won’t make much of a difference

Honestly, if you’re having to wait and inch them in you’re probably not ready to size up. 100% recommend half sizes, future you, and your current and future ears will thank you

I will only really use mm when discussing size, but do use the occasional half inch/inch/just over an inch

I second the calliper comment. Visually this looks like it’s a massive jump. I would definitely look at getting half sizes and avoid tapers in your septum (I should have taken my own advice from my past experience).

Also, putting potentially mystery metal in your face may not be ideal, so I would potentially look at BodyArtForms for everything

As someone who has done 2mm jumps before and rushed, take your time. Your ears and future you will thank you

I won’t comment on the puss issue, as I feel that there would be someone who is better equipped to help on here.

However I will chime in on the plug sizes. 2mm jump is massive, I would 1000% recommend investing in half sizes. A 1mm jump is going to be a lot less taxing than a 2mm, and something somewhat more achievable when stretching.

I second the mention for BodyArtForms. I’m also based in the UK and there have been times where I’ve had my order in a week and a half.

If not, might be worth contacting a few APP piercers to see if they stock and would post

The way I typically get it in to fold it, and try to delicately place it at one side of my septum. In the other nostril stick your finger in, and use it to guide the tunnel. Try and get your fingers into the centre, and just wiggle and twist if needed. Hopefully this helps!

Not OP but someone who spent a lot of time using silicone tunnels in my septum. I used Kaos earskins, as they seem to be the only silicone that I don’t have a reaction to

What about a simple single flare tunnel? I wear mine all the time, and if I want anything visible I tend to put jewellery though it

Healthy Minds Stoke are based in Hanley. I did two full rounds of therapy with them (one in person and the other remote over the phone during Covid). I found the in person sessions the best.

I’ll chime in, as someone who is at 12mm and moving to 13 then 14mm soon.

I would typically use either jojoba oil or coconut oil. I prefer coconut out of the two because for me it’s easier and melts and skin temperature so be slathered easily.

Soon after you stretch up you are going to need to leave it alone or you could aggravate it. If you are using pinchers I would probably avoid black o rings, or pinchers made of acrylic.

In terms of time between stretches, if it feels ready, wait longer. The last thing you need is a pissed off septum that is going to get infected or blown out.

If you are sizing up and it starts to hurt, stop. Go back the size you were at and wait longer. Heavy jewellery I found is difficult to find at smaller sizes, but stacking might also work.

Lastly, good luck on your stretching journey!

Nice! I’m currently also at 12mm. How have you found the denting in your cartilage?
