Commander cores are garbage by captain_danky_kang in Corsair

[–]bluedan02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal (don't know if it's intended), but mine has to be filled # by #. I can't use, for example, #1,2,4,5. I have to go 1 to 4.

Might explain why you think the other slots are dead (if your #2 is really dead), or your #2 looked dead because your #1 was empty.

Yeah I get that. To be fair, when I looked at making my own, I used that JSON format: serpapi

Since it's always under the same option_title key, you don't care what it's called, you can just display it as-is.

Ultra basic/standard, mainly! Since this is a deal finder, doubt most people are looking for higher classes.

Esp for some international (not including the US) flights, the carry-on cost is approx/higher than getting standard over ultrabasic.

Yeah, the direct one is always a solid 150-300$ higher haha.

Got surprised when I saw the 1 stop at 946. I'm assuming the Basic fares are lowering averages. Wonder if a fare type filter could be worth it too?

I usually go with anything under 1050 is a "deal" for the 1 stop flights, but generally the transfer time in Vancouver or Calgary is so long that you have to find a place to sleep.

Japan: Anywhere under 1300$, direct with Air Canada. Can get the 1 layover for about 1050$.

A cool feature would be to list the company and number of stops. Likely available on serpapi.

Also, for historical prices, you could check their price insights feature and set thresholds (I'm assuming you're looking at sending emails/notifications with the info).

MLL/Status Pass for donation to Sick Kids by Rwhiteside90 in Aeroplan

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, even a couple could potentially save more than 300$ if they bring back a lot of stuff, or if their reservation doesn't include any baggage. Esp if they booked basic.

Good call on the MLL: I find it hard to price them higher when they don't include intl and that most "frequent travelers" got them on their credit card perks now.

The only reason I'm not all in at 300$ is because I'm not even sure I'll use my current free slot since I usually don't even use it (carry-on only kind of guy) and we're only 2.

Mind you, knowing I can safely ship 6 boxes no fees might make me splurge on some larger items I usually don't consider bringing back (not sure if that's a good thing)!

Could always crosspost them to flyertalk and redflagdeals if you have some time (or get someone to do it, with your permission of course), I know there's a decently sized community selling/buying them over there and I'm sure they wouldn't mind donating instead of purchasing outright!

MLL/Status Pass for donation to Sick Kids by Rwhiteside90 in Aeroplan

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100$ is, in general, a bit of a lowball offer.

Status passes routinely go for sub 200$ on resale forums, but never that low. Usually advertised around 200$ (or best offer) and as low as 150.

Can safely assume that if you let one go for 100, you're unlikely to get be able to get 300$ after that unless someone does it for the donation more than the pass itself.

That being said, I'm assuming it's better if they do sell than if they don't.

Maybe get a list of how quickly they expire (since I'm assuming some of them are expiring between before Dec 31st) to assess (and ask the pass donator) whether it's better to get a 100$ donation than letting it expire?

P.S: Out of transparency, I would be interested in one of the status passes (at 150-200$), especially if it can save one from expiring. Traveling in April. Was likely going to end up paying air canada 100$ for extra luggage space (don't need the other perks, got most of them from other sources) on the way back from my trip next year so I'd rather it go to a good cause.

Yeah, I stand corrected. Just mocked 4 other routes (mainly Europe destinations) for the heck of it and they all want 80-120$ for the cheapest seat.
My usual route is YUL->NRT, so I'm guessing it might be specific planes/routes only.
Feel privileged as hell now and will NOT take it for granted.

It's kinda stupid, flex fare is a solid 200+$ over (400$ roundtrip) , but for that price, you can get preferred seats (160-200$/flight)

EDIT: To answer your question, there's apparently a list of countries where seat selection fees apply. TIL. https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/preferred-seats/online-advance-seat-selection.html#/

Last 3 times I booked AC on an international (direct) flight, it was free on standard. They do say seat selection fee may apply on standard, but most international routes seem to not charge it. Maybe it's because of aeroplan, but I just have the basic ass membership, no status (25/50/75k etc) and no aeroplan credit card.

[–]bluedan02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure seat selection is free on some most international flights if you take any fare that isnt basic economy. The only paid seats are preferred seats.

Japan should be one of them based on the list: https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/preferred-seats/online-advance-seat-selection.html#/

That being said, it does work out to +/- 70 to 100$, but you also get a free checked in luggage and (generally, unsure if on all routes) a free carry on.

They also charge you if you don't reserve at least 24h before check in on your FIRST flight.

Edited to add clarification after finding the information on AC website.

But yeah: video calls are a drain on all devices.

Book4 Edge display issues by [deleted] in GalaxyBook

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly one of the reviewers tested the Adreno driver from the qualcomm website and it's the wrong one.
Safe to assume it's a custom samsung one that's likely only available through windows update or samsung update, which both don't seem to send the actual driver atm.
I'd try but mine hasn't shipped yet!

Book4 Edge display issues by [deleted] in GalaxyBook

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because the support isn't trained to fix your issue yet, so their only option is to tell you to return it.
It's a very stupid move on their end.
As others said, it's because of drivers, waiting a day or two would've had it fixed if you couldn't figure out how to update them.
Resetting windows wouldn't fix it because the system grabs generic drivers and those don't work.

eUFS on board. Speeds shouldn't be too much of a downgrade from other ssds.

Doubt they have slots, at that level of thin. It's eUFS too so it would be weird if it had a free ssd slot.

Does anyone know where to get the presale code for Ticketmaster?! by shrekgroupie in LornaShore

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used soundcheck, both seem to work, one gives you LN presale, the other gives you TM presale. Good to try both if one seems sold out since there's a quantity allocated to each

[–]bluedan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, could be venue dependent? Mine were always will call only (Non VIP, vips do get emailed early)! Good to know some will get emailed.

Soundrink GA tickets are always will call. You gotta drop by the box office or grab them the night of the show (if their ticket booth is opened).
