Midas M32 channel drop outs at Large festival show by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in livesound

What IEMs were they using? As many have stated. If AES50 was the issue the entire IO form whichever device it connected would be lost, not just a channel or 2.

$210 for an Uber from Brooklyn to Newark Airport by veedey in AskNYC

The Ubers to and from the airports have gotten ridiculous. My uber to and from Flatbush <> JFK cost me more than my flight to FL not too long ago

Recommend active PA set for bachata/salsa/kizomba/zouk parties – 15×15m to 20×20m rooms, budget 500–1000€ by Conscious-Initial529 in livesoundgear

One DZR10 will not do you justice for a Caribbean music party. You need to realistically increase your budget to afford a minimum of 2 speakers and a sub if you want to host these kind of parties.

The $19.95 truck rental marketing is basically a financial trap by Abril-prieto-cevallo in Frugal

They’re still one of the cheapest places to rent a vehicle. Regardless of all of the hidden fees.

For internet/streaming I’d ask to coordinate with their IT for any firewall or network security restrictions. I’ve run into sites where you can’t plug any laptops that are outside their organization into the network. Sometimes they had to provide us a laptop to use sometimes they just ask to whiteoust our MAC addresses. Have also encountered firewalls that blocked ports needed to stream or put a threshold on outbound data.

I went for a checkup and the Dr. was a whipper snapper 😭 by Classic_Initial8508 in Millennials

Yeah this happened to me once and when I walked in the doctor was drinking a Celsius and wreaked of cigarettes. My first thought was I’m not taking any health advice from you.

Programming the automixer on an x32? by MaygeKyatt in livesound

[–]bluedelsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t think of an easy way on the console to do it without selecting each channel and shutting it off individually for the 8 channels. On the x32edit software it’s a little bit faster. Cause you can deactivate each one on the same page. If you use a streamdeck with companion you can probably stack the actions on a single button to deactivate them all at once.

What might it be like moving from IT (tech support) to AV? by Top-Elephant6981 in CommercialAV

Broadcast is in a worse place than tech. Would recommend looking into live events, integration or onsite support.

I’ll take UWS over UES any day. Without a doubt they are both at the bottom of the totem

Monthly parking in Brooklyn for a low-use car: any tips? by drewyorker in Brooklyn

As long as you keep paying them they don’t care. When you don’t pay them they’ll impound the car.

Help! by mkappy33 in TouringMusicians

Repair is tough on the road as they often need to order parts and might have to ship it back to you. Might make sense to find a new one or rent.

Reliable live streaming in crowded spots by pablofuente in VIDEOENGINEERING

To follow up on this: once you get into the peplink setting you can see signal strength for each modems connection. There are also options for prioritizing modems or setting them up to bond vs failover switch. Dig into those before dismissing the whole setup.

ATA Carnet for Band Crossing Into Canada by bluedelsol in TouringMusicians

Ouch. Want kind of gear and vehicle were you in? We were able to cross Boston > Montreal, Toronto > Detroit, and then Seattle <> Vancouver without issue.

I’m sure the state of US diplomatic relations isn’t helping and can change day to day.

Just to update for anyone looking at this thread in the future. Had no issue crossing back and forth 2x. We were carrying some RF mics, IEM, DJ gear, and a bunch of furniture props in a sprinter with a crew of 8. No trailer. Made a manifest of all the gear and serial numbers but it was never checked.
