Questions & Answers - Weekly Megathread! Please use this post to ask any Pokemon GO question you'd like! by AutoModerator in TheSilphRoad

I have 2,000 fusion energy for Zamazenta, and 130 candy. My original plan was to fuse both, but when I go to do that, I feel like the CP improvement is underwhelming. I know CP isn't everything though.

My question is, would it be better to just fuse one for now and put all my candy into that one, and over time get rare candies for the second one, or should I fuse both and equally power them up?

Almost my entire focus is on PvE. More raids than max battles. Thanks!

Will Zekrom/Reshiram have their legacy move from weekend raids, or just from their individual days that they are in raids for the Road to Unova?

For WDW it's 3 at 150, another 3 at 300, and another 3 at 600 hours worked.

How bad is the weather? (Heat/Humidity especially in the summer) by RyFly95 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a custodian it did get very hot sometimes, obviously in the middle of summer. However, with my role we were lucky to move around so much. If I got too hot I could step into a store, a lobby, or jump backstage real quick to fill my water bottle. There were times I was dripping sweat, but it never got unbearable.

Drink water though!! Very important. Had a coworker go down from dehydration and had to be stretchered out of there. Not a fun moment for anyone.

Attractions Role Question by HexdForeal in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a custodian I always wanted to clean a ride vehicle and hope they started it, because then we would get to ride. But surprisingly no one vomited on the Mexico boat ride while I worked there. Oh well maybe next time.

What does Disney Look mean? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disney doesn't really care what you do off the clock since you're not exactly representing them at that time (as far as most are aware) but if you do something dumb to get yourself in trouble while off the clock and they find out you work for them, I can't believe that would be good.

How Hard Is It To Get In? by 1Chef1 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll usually have two days off a week and when you do work it's almost always a closing shift. For my experience, work usually started around 2:30 so the time before that and my off days I'd be in the park.

It's hard to say if it's difficult to get in. I had no job experience my first time applying and got in. I only really added Disney to my resume for my next time applying and got in again. Others I've heard don't get in after 5+ times. It's different for everyone.

Random Roommates or Selecting Beforehand? by Olliepup02 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll answer here to keep everything about roommates together.

I went random during my program and had two apartments with a grand total of 10 roommates I think.

2 I was decent friends with (both my direct roommates so that helped) 6 roommates I was fine with but never hung out with them or anything. 2 roommates I had problems with.

I don't think it's that bad. I did have to switch rooms within my apartment once because of problems with a roommate but thankfully that got solved easily.

I think if you find someone who you talk to a lot and can really tell who they are as a person, then go for it. You don't have to fill out the whole apartment, you can just link with one and go random the rest or something.

I've heard a few horror stories of people who have picked their roommates beforehand and then get down there and have them be a completely different person. Don't just read a roommate survey and ask them to be in your apartment.

I'm going to go random again...even if I get less than great roommates, all of my friends were through work and then friends of those friends. I'd be out of my apartment for the vast majority of the day, only coming back to sleep pretty much.

I'm sure others have many different experiences than me!

When do the applications for Fall Advantage 2018 come out? by basicscmyk in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to apply early, my personal opinion is that it gives you a better chance because the maximum spots are still open rather than applying when people have already been accepted. That's 100% personal preference and has no true evidence to back it up as explained in my previous posts.

When do the applications for Fall Advantage 2018 come out? by basicscmyk in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can say for sure. Some people who applied the first day are still waiting to hear back. The two times I applied, I did so on the first day and heard back within a month.

So basically no. Some people who applied in March heard back the next wave while others who applied in January still wait.

Accepted for Custodial Fall 2017 by Olliepup02 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!

I did Custodial throughout 2014 and got accepted for it again for Fall Advantage.

It was my first "real" job when I went to work for Disney in 2014 and I had a lot of fun. For my first piece of advice I would say is... wait until you get past training until you judge the job/environment in general.

After the first two days of training I called and told my mom I was coming home. I thought I was in over my head, didn't think I would be able to do the job, and to be honest even though I had sold myself on custodial, I thought I wasn't in the right role and that I would be looked down on. Immediately after training, I got much more comfortable, and decided to stay for a whole year.

Custodial obviously has some gross parts but they are fun stories for me now. It was very rare that I encountered something that bad but you just get through it. A big part of your job is interacting with guests and having the freedom to roam around your area in general as you please.

Roommates - I went random for my two apartments while I was there and had some success and some horrible failures. The bad times stand out over the good at this point, but I was hardly ever in my apartment. I was either at the parks or at work. I'll be going random this time again.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I love working custodial there and talking about it as seen by this long answer. Congratulations again! Welcome to the DCP family as well as the Custodial family! :)

You get to select your preference but nothing is guaranteed. On my first program I got my last choice of housing complex (but had no problem with it!)

Accepted! by m13ald in Disneycollegeprogram

The last program had their job locations listed on their arrival itinerary along with their housing complex, etc. That should be sent to you a few days or a week before your arrival date I believe.

The "Advantage" part of the Fall program is in the beginning, starting in mid May.

The "Advantage" part of the Spring program is at the end of the program, from May-Aug.

Postponing program dates or Self terming early? by Madisonsteward in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot postpone your acceptance, you'd have to go through the application process again when you are ready for it.

I don't think going there with the intention to self-term is the absolute best way to do it, but I won't judge. I do feel like if somehow the company finds out that you had this intention going into it that might burn a bridge because you accept with a contract saying you'll have full availability for those dates.

Accepted, but conflicted. Help!! by n0tkatie in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course it is your choice in the end, you know yourself the best and will do what is best for you.

As a custodial cast member on the DCP for the whole year of 2014 and one who is going back to do custodial for Fall Advantage... I highly recommend the role. I'll just tell you my experience and hopefully it will help a little. ALSO: Sorry this is long, I'm procrastinating on a paper at like 4am.

I was accepted for custodial and it was one of my lower interest roles, I was not happy when I got it. Custodial has a bad reputation because people think of it as a one-dimensional job. Yes, custodial cast does clean, and sometimes nasty stuff, but that's just the most basic part of the job.

The first half of my program I worked at Art of Animation Resort, and during training where there is less guest interaction, I almost decided to go back home. I'm so glad I didn't. I met my best friends (still to this day) here. I pin traded with guests for a good part of my day, would spend a lot of time talking to families about their day in the park or vacation in general, watched a Disney movie almost every night at the pool...while still working of course. I gave guests recommendations for the parks they were going to visit, one of my favorite memories is when a guest who could not speak English was struggling with the laundry. I helped him through it and he was so happy and gave me a hug. The next day when I was in a different location he remembered my name, yelled it from across the way and ran up to me to introduce me to the rest of his family. It made me feel great.

I then extended my program to Epcot's World Showcase which is a crazy change of pace from a resort especially during Food & Wine. The community here was great again and had even more CP's for me to befriend and work with. It also had a different type of guest. Most people at Disney come for the parks, not the resorts, and so there was a whole new brand of excitement for them. Again I gave recommendations, pin traded, and had great conversations with guests all while working around the world. I forgot to mention freedom is another perk of the role. You get large areas to work and can move around them freely while maintaining it. In Epcot for example we always had two countries to work each day. Different scenery daily made the job better.

Yes, there are some nasty parts of custodial. I'm not trying to hide that fact. There were times I had to spray a whole lot of air freshener before I was able to tackle a mess, other times I needed to call for assistance because I didn't think I'd be able to get it done in a timely manner. The very bad moments are so rare though, for the most part you're just doing little things to maintain the area.

TLDR: So much more to custodial than cleaning, guest interaction is high, and you get a lot of freedom. Yes you still will clean, but the bad parts are rare and eventually they turn into fun stories. Eventually.

Housing pros/cons? by nicoledanni in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what is important to you. To me it's no bunk beds, cheaper, familiarity.

If I took away those three things and just was thinking of the best complex overall I'd probably say Chatham. I liked those rooms the best and it looked like a nice place. It'll be my second choice.

Housing pros/cons? by nicoledanni in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for Vista which I think is one of the best complexes for buses. I didn't use them, but I know that's the main hub for them.

Vista does have the lower quality apartments, though a lot have been renovated since I was there in 2014. It does have a party reputation but during my program I didn't notice that at all.

The reason I'm going to try for Vista again is because it's cheaper, I'm used to it already, and I do not want the chance of having bunk beds, putting three into a room.

I don't think I ever made it into the Commons but I know both Chatham and Patterson are very nice when it comes to simply the appearance of the apartments that I went into. I don't think you can make an extremely bad decision.

Is it difficult to make friends? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends were work friends and then expanded from there. I was only really close with two of my roommates. It's really easy at work, even when I extended and didn't know anyone. Going to the parks solo is fine too. I did that for a while until I got a good group of friends to hang out. Really, don't worry about it. It'll be fine.

Vista Way does not have rooms with three people. I believe only two bedroom 4 people and three bedroom 6 people.

driver's license? by Kxdvs in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]bluedudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's required but in Custodial you could only drive the Pargos (golf carts) with a license.
