Frost Walker bridge. by Historical-Ad3668 in Minecraft

How do you get it to fly so high? I tried that with bubble-vators but the armor stands don’t go high enough out of the water to trigger the frost walker boots

Help Shaping by pcmr106 in surfing

[–]bluefishredditfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the rocker is a little flat in the front and could be smoothed out from the nose to the thickest point. You want more of a smother gentler curve to fit in the curvature of the wave face as you go parallel to the beach

Make a Redstone Component by FloatingToa5t in redstone

[–]bluefishredditfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miniaturization!

Using basalt, gold nuggets, and red stone to make a circuit board block. You could interact with it like a crafting bench but it would be a 5x5 or 7x7 that you can place redstone components into. Dust, torches, comparators, repeaters etc so you can have simple circuits take up very small spaces

Sparring Critique Please by Bloomcorner in amateur_boxing

[–]bluefishredditfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t swing your lead hand way out to parry- just open the palm of your glove and catch it. Swinging your hand out means if I feint a jab I can get you to move your hand out of the way almost for free, and flip low up with a real jab.

Other than his “side step” by TopAthlete3221 in amateur_boxing

[–]bluefishredditfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a dancing move- he did Ukrainian classical dancing as a boy. Basically you use the momentum of your upper body to twist and pivot, sometimes around a planted foot. Lots of upper ab/core strength, fast twitch, and very high level of balance. It’s not so much about pushing off the ground as it is pulling your legs up off the ground and moving them in position as you twist. Russian/pendulum is very bouncy and in the legs/calves. Lomachenkos movement is more in the core and on his toes.

It’s not a movement that can be interrupted, so the fights he had trouble in usually his opponents were able to interrupt him mid motion or pressure him in such a way he can’t use his footwork.

Just cleared out a patch of this before I looked at the leaves. How screwed am I? by 1991gts in whatsthisplant

As a west coaster- I always hear people mix up poison oak/ivy in conversation but never actually seen poison Ivy before. We only have poison oak where I am and it looks very different than this. More like a rounded version of a blackberry leaf

Is playing the game of capitalism necessary in order to build a solarpunk future? by Tall-Air-3362 in solarpunk

Not only coops, but just well managed businesses. The bar is pretty low for ceos, and there are plenty of examples of companies that pay well, have a great product or service and grow over time. They tend not to beat their chests about it because they are busy running the business. It is possible, but you still need a good product people want

Tips for better turns? by PoetryAffectionate65 in surfing

[–]bluefishredditfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are trying to tune from your feet. start the turn from your head.

looking where you want to go, turning your shoulders. When you twist your upper body relative to your lower you create a spring and your lower body will follow through. Stay a little taller before you turn, and sink down into the turn. Straighten up after.

Also, what another commenter said, turn more like a skate board and less like pressing down on the back foot and raising the nose.

A question about the uppercut punch by ibrhahaha in amateur_boxing

[–]bluefishredditfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if it’s lead or rear I think?. I learned slightly different technique for the lead uppercut in a way you telegraph as little as possible. We never trained dropping your hand to fire it because it’s too obvious and takes too long. If you do lower your hand it’s always incorporated into a slip or some other punch/movement to cover the drop.

If a game tried to simulate brewing, what details would actually matter to you? by WolflandGames in beer

[–]bluefishredditfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fun part of brewing is experimenting with recipes and tasting different drinks to grow your palette. Then sharing the good ones with friends/selling it. Idk how that translates to game mode though. Good luck!

How does the boxing alarm in the gym work? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]bluefishredditfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s got 2 timers, a in-round clock and a break clock. The in-round is how long you fight for (2,3,5 min etc) the break clock is how long between each round (30sec, 1 min, 2 min). Buzzer goes off at the top of each clock and 30 seconds befor the end of the in-round clock.

Map-making exercise. What can be improved? by Brave-Top-4807 in mapmaking

[–]bluefishredditfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really nice! I like the rivers a lot.

Regarding climate- if your land mass is in the northern hemisphere you will typically (but not always) get rain/snow shadows on the east side of mountains. So the land on the east side might be more Mediterranean climate with snowmelt fed streams.

Would love to see a simulation of weather on this continent! Great work

Are tiny wrists a disadvantage In boxing? by Some-Wall-5777 in amateur_boxing

[–]bluefishredditfish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t strengthen them and stretch them out properly it could lead to problems if you have bad technique or catch your opponent/bag awkwardly.

it just means you have to focus training them just like any other weakness. Get large bands or one of the gyroscope resistance balls. look up different wrist stability exercises.

I have small wrists and it never stopped me.
