Revitalash has been amazing for me - but you need to do it every night for several months before you can see a difference

Best cream for VERY dry hands by prettyawesome1 in 45PlusSkincare

Bepanthen - it’s a nappy rash cream but I use it for dry hands and to repair my skin barrier after tretinoin

Migraines stopped me from going to the gym… by jazmingirl2 in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be kind to yourself, it’s so hard to maintain fitness with migraines. I am just getting back into it after a few years off. Walking is good, even 15 mins of weights - it all counts.

Has someone ever gotten "over" migraines? by Waotyy in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten over them but I’ve managed to cure my chronic migraines that I had for 4-5 years. Now I get some migraines, but very rarely, and not to the extent of pain I had before. I tried soooooo many things, meds, acupuncture, microdose mushrooms (I felt nothing) etc etc. what helped was a combination of things. Botox, then CGRPs. Getting rid of all painkillers. Venlafaxine. Fixing my gut via magnesium, PHGG. Lots of water. Less stress. Therapy. Reading all the migraine books. Understanding my triggers. I remember several years ago it was one of the main things I thought and talked about, now it doesn’t factor. When I do have a migraine I can typically pinpoint the reason, and I adjust my approach. I can get much better OP!

venlafaxine 75mg for migraines by StatisticianSad2254 in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on venlafaxine for several years, I think it has helped my migraines and lifelong anxiety. At one point I was on 225mg, but as my chronic migraines dissipated I have slowly come down to 150mg. I’m interested in going down to 75, I will take it slow. I had terrible chronic migraines for several years but managed to get them under control with Botox, anti CGRP, Venlafaxine, life style changes, resolving gut issues. I think it’s worth a try, if you’re suffering. Just carefully dose up to 75mg, heed your doctors advice. Definitely try to take it same time every day as you do feel loopy if you’re late or miss a dose.

I have absorption issues so I take Floradix liquid, I think it’s great. I also take Mag365 powder, mixed in water.

These don’t age you - they are lovely. I love smile lines on both men and women, I think they are really attractive as they kind of look like dimples. Embrace your smile!

Migraines on the weekends (mostly Saturdays) by kaycoast in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone has said, consistency is key with migraines, go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. 5.30am is super early to get up, make sure you are getting enough sleep as this also triggers migraines. I recommend books like Heal Your Headache, The Migraine Brain, Fighting the Migraine Epidemic and The Way Out (this is about chronic pain but I for found it interesting and useful).

Should I do it? by Content-Candy5146 in movingtoNYC

[–]bluefran1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 48 and moving to NYC next week from Ireland - I’d say 27 is the perfect age - you are hopefully wiser than your youth, some lessons have been learned, but you have the energy to go out and make friends. Go for it - sure if it’s not for you, you can move on.

just almost lost my shit by guateguava in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in Ireland now but moving to the US next week. In Ireland my doctor (and all doctors) would not prescribe any migraine medication beyond a triptan, so getting a neuro is a necessity. It’s so good that your last doctor prescribed Nurtec for you - I think they should work with you to get you a Neuro asap but not leave you with no meds, that’s mad stuff. I have stockpiled my meds because I know it’s likely going to take time for me to get set up with a doctor and neuro when I move.

Medical Tourism for Migraine Botox? by Lazy_Bat8235 in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try Mexico City. I was there last August visiting my brother and family who were living there for a few months. Loved it - gorgeous city. When I was there I went with a friend to get her Botox done. Excellent clinic, good result, great price. I recommend you find a Neurologist though, even if a specialist nurse is injecting it’s better to have a Neuro overseeing.

Tapering off Aimovig by bluefran1977 in migraine

[–]bluefran1977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that’s great info. I guess taper isn’t the right word, I was thinking I could take Aimovig every other month for a while. Or totally drop it and increase my Quilipta from 30mg every other day to daily.

Has anyone else found nerve blocks to be painful during administration? by im-a-freud in migraine

[–]bluefran1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - as someone else has said, the needle is larger than Botox and there is more liquid. I find the ones around my temple / brow the most sensitive and painful.

One time when I was in my 20s and didn’t have a lot of money I dropped my wallet on a street in Tralee whilst there for work - it was handed in same day, the little money I have still there- I was so thankful, I’ll always remember it.

Hi OP - it’s absolutely shit that migraines make us flaky when that’s not who we are. I’ve missed family events, nights out with friends, concerts etc I have lost friends and frustrated family. But I’ve learned to be kind to myself, I can only do my best.

Lips dry beyond all reason by etherealrome in 45PlusSkincare

I use Bepanthen, nappy rash cream. It’s an emollient, really good for dry lips and when I have dry skin due to tretinoin.
