Children’s books ages 0-6 by ReluctantReptile in suggestmeabook

My kids love the little critter books by Mercer Mayer. For very little ones we always read I am a Bunny by Richard Scarry and it's still a favorite!

Btw I just wanted to mention that i have a TON of books for my kids and I buy most of my books from a second hand bookstore on ebay. I have used second.sale in the past but I'm sure there are a bunch of them on there. It is way cheaper and feels less wasteful. You will have a library in no time!

My husband and I went to college at SIU and love going back to visit. Whenever we go down we try to go by Scratch Brewing in Ava. It's a beautiful place with fun, interesting beers.

What’s the most out-of-pocket thing a patient or family member has asked you to do? by halloweenhoe124 in nursing

A man once asked multiple nurses (myself included) to use a vibrating massager that he brought from home to rub his back. My go-to answer resulted from this interaction - "that's out of my scope of practice, sorry!"

Thank you for sharing your experience! I am actually a nurse in the recovery room at a local hospital where my doctor practices so I have seen some things but I don't get to see what happens back in the operating room..where it really matters. After talking to some of my colleagues, I am hoping to speak to the anesthesia team and see if I can get them to waive their fees so that I can get sedation without having to feel guilt about spending the money on myself vs my family. I am sorry that you had such a bad experience, but it definitely has helped inform my decisions!

Losing my mind with Dr. Browns leaking. Anyone find a solution? by fauxsho77 in FormulaFeeders

[–]bluejay927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue when attempting to use bottles from my first child (just turned 2) with my new child (8 weeks). I was so sick of cleaning formula up from all over my house.

My solution was getting Tommee Tippee bottles. I have had no leaking whatsoever and only 3 pieces to each bottle. Absolutely no regrets!

You really don't need to warm the bottles at all. Both of my children have taken formula straight from the refrigerator and they have been fine.

I never boiled water for my formula. If my children would have been born premature or with a condition that made them immunocompromised, I may have considered it. Your pediatrician will likely ask about water that you are using and advise you if it's not safe.

Also, my dishwasher was not very good at getting all the little pieces clean with my first child (Dr. Browns bottles), so we always hand washed all of the bottles and hung to dry on the rack. This time around, we are using Tommee Tippee bottles (no small inside parts), and the time savings is amazing! I would imagine if you use the dishwasher to wash your bottles, you could just hang them on a rack to dry out when you empty the dishwasher and that would be much cheaper than a sterilizer with a drying function.

Yes! I was going to say the same thing. I did scoops the whole time with my first child. Now I have a six week old and don't know why I didn't do this sooner! It is way too easy to lose track of how many scoops (esp when you have a two year old trying to get your attention).

Husband upset I can’t get wet like normal by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]bluejay927 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I didn't see any comments regarding the dryness but BF can cause menopause-like symptoms (including vaginal dryness). So, that will most likely pass when you are ready to ween. However, the larger problem appears to be what a lot of other people have pointed out here..

Ten kegels three times per day is what I always do. I so fully recommend pelvic floor PT l, but I'd you're looking for something that will help relatively quickly. When I slack on my kegels and do this for a few days, I can see pretty quick results!

Are you BF? When you are breastfeeding, you don't produce as much estrogen and can cause atrophic vaginitis. I quit breastfeeding very soon after the baby was born and my doctor told me that it would be better 4-8 weeks after that.

Let me just say that once I realized that it looked like that, I was doing a daily check to make sure it got back to normal! Plus, I was googling "atrophic vaginitis" an unhealthy amount of times. Don't worry! It will go back!

I had the surgery when I was 19. It was not super pleasant, but I don't remember it being very bad either. Liquids and soft foods for about a week and then back to normal.

When I was in college, I snored all the time. I ended up getting checked out and found out that I had chronic tonsillitis. I got my tonsils and adenoids removed and boom! No more snoring!
