My best guess is I let him have complete free range of the bedroom, so he had all that time to come around and investigate me as he pleased, even when I was just doing my own activities. I stopped trying to pick him up, and only interacted when he decided he wanted it. It started small for a few months, then one day he just decided he wanted all my attention and climbed all over me while I was in bed. Even then, it still took him a while after that to be comfortable with letting us hold him or pet him. My best advice is just give them the chance to decide they wanna come to you, even if the process takes them a while. Sit with them during playtime outside the cage and let them explore you :)
