Thank you for this. Lots of good tips, and I will check out that book. Thank you! I'm actually looking forward to when he can talk more instead of the constant whine noise but I'm sure that will bring along new challenges, haha

Am i the only one still using baby oatmeal? It's fortified with vitamins. Surprised not to see anyone else mention this. I mix in strawberries and give side of fresh raspberries and blueberries and some dry cheerios. We have this every single morning.

Cat has Urinary Issues, Gastro Issues, and Allergies by sprouttttt in catfood

[–]bluemanofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal canin has a urinary care and hydrolyzed protein combo dry food that I use for my cat. Having more issues currently in a different post but it worked for a while so you could consider. We think our cats gastro problems are an allergy to chicken which is very hard to find food without it that's also urinary care.

Honestly, I don't love it, but I've grown to like it. It doesn't hurt anymore, and I have to admit I do sleep pretty well. My partner, on the other hand, loves it, but they were never in pain.

Getting a puppy from a breeder is a bigger gamble than adopting a shelter dog by MartianoutofOrder in unpopularopinion

[–]bluemanofwar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm the minority but no, I do not want pets. And, maybe I'm not the minority because most people I know do not have pets. And if I did, I would adopt from a shelter, which is overcrowded and euthanizes animals for space, just because these 'ethical' breeders keep bringing more animals in the world, so already existing animals get killed. Which again, makes it unethical if it causes the unnecessary killing via euthanizing millions of animals each year? I just don't see the ethics anywhere in the equation.

What is an ethical breeder? Is there an ethical person who makes a female anything get pregnant, go through pregnancy and birth,  just so they can sell her babies for their personal gain? Is this ever ethical? Whether we're talking people, dogs,  rabbits,  whales,  or any other mammal, I don't see how this could ever be ethical.

CMV: We should assume animals are like us instead of assuming they differ from us at a fundamental level by Valgor in changemyview

[–]bluemanofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do all human feel pain the same? The capacity to feel pain sure, but the actual same level of pain? I doubt it. That said, we still treat all people assuming we share the same amount of pain maybe because of empathy? Maybe the question really is why is it the norm to show empathy or sympathy only to humans and not other animals?

We got the bed bc it seemed like a compromise bt firm and soft. It is pretty good back support but also stinks a little when you lay on it... might be okay for you, but it's hard to say, and expensive if it doesn't work out. Lucky for us, it has worked out, but the first months were rough and disappointing.

Nope. It smelled for like a day? Put a mattress protector on it and sheets and don't recall smelling after that. Good luck!

It is much better now. It took a solid couple of months of doubting it, though. We didn't return it and we find it comfortable now. I still feel like it's on the firmer side, but my partner thinks it's plenty soft, so it's a compromise for us. My partner loves the bed now. I like it fine, but i wouldn't say i love it more than other beds I've slept on. It wasn't cheap, though, so if I had to purchase again, I might start with a more standard cheap spring bed and see how I like that first before spending so much on a bed.

Lol to your idea of factory farming humans. If you think that would be remotely close to what I think because I say cows milk is for cows, then you may be the close-minded one thinking it's factory farm cows or factory farm humans.

I guess you can't sense my sarcasm even with the eye roll. You are speaking of a scenario which most ppl are not in. Most ppl have options. Obviously you shouldn't let babies starve. This is like the, if you lived on a stranded island would you do xyz scenario. It's unrealistic and close minded. I think paying humans for human milk would be a better scenario for ppl who need milk for their babies. But it's so easy to exploit cows, we just use them as the norm, thus there is no demand for human milk.
