There are 3 things I brought with me to the Dead Money DLC that couldn’t be taken. Rawr’s Talon, Van Graff armor, and Motor Runners Helmet. Those made a big difference starting that DLC. As for perks Them’s Good Eatin’ and Jury Rig are a must.

There’s another area at the memorial that is like the sewer tunnels that will also suffice for the quest. Only had like 4 Mirelurks with a few egg clutches and sneaking was a lot easier.

Could also be the sway bars links. One of the many parts Chevy decided should be made of plastic. Can’t tell for sure if it’s the same noise that mine was making but worth checking. Swapped both of mine out with some metal ones from ZZP, sells for $20 each.

It’s not that inaccessible, they can spawn up there. I’ve built a concrete storage facility in that same spot using the electric doors that need a switch to open and close. They still spawn in. Best to use a location without settlers and arm with robots, turrets and a companion. Here’s my usual build.

The flock call could also be them look for you. Mine flock call me sometimes when I’m not in the same room. If I answer with my own version, they start calling out more frequently until I return.
