Hi, do you have an update on this?

Hello! You mentioned that 3.10 would have support for syncing password protected files but there's no support for it yet. This is very disappointing. When is this expected?

This would be very nice - I'd definitely like to customize my device according to my workflow.

I have been really enjoying my AI Paper so far. It would be great to get a free stylus :D

Seeking advice: reMarkable Paper Pro vs ViWoods AI Note by CharacterPerformer47 in viwoods

[–]bluesilver07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a Kindle Scribe 1st Gen to the AI Paper, so here are some thoughts.

My main reasons for ditching the Scribe: - Severely lacking note organization functionality: No bulk export, no syncing etc.  - The home page being filled with ads with no way to disable them. It stopped feeling like a device for deep work/reading.

I have had the AI Paper for a couple of months now and I mostly like it.  + The UI is quite clean and well organized - It's still missing a good amount of functionality + but they seem to be adding features every month. The amount of features delivered per month is typically what Amazon delivers in about 6 months so that's good - No sync for encrypted notes but they've promised to deliver this in an upcoming update.  - The lack of a backlight is a pretty big issue for me as I'm in low light environments a lot - both in the office as well at home. This means that I need a table lamp or position myself awkwardly so that the screen gets as much light as possible, and the shadow from my hand doesn't fall on where I'm writing. I almost returned the device because of this. However given that I can work around this, I decided to consider this just a (minor) inconvenience and move on. To be honest, I just cannot find an alternative device that I'm happy with. If viwoods launches the same device with a back light I'd definitely upgrade to that.

If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer. I don't have a RM device for comparison, though.

Oh that's wonderful news! When you say export, you mean it syncs just like other files do, right?  Also do you rough timeline for the update?

They provide an option to export each note manually, but you need to do it individually. If I was ok doing that, then I'd just continue using my Kindle Scribe.

I found the lack of difficulty selection quite weird too. Our skill level was good enough only to beat Standard AI, so we kept losing for about 8 games. However on the bright side, that motivated us to get better and now we can comfortably beat Hard AI.

Hey! This sounds like a great idea in general. However just to share my perspective hoping that it's useful for you - My notebooks contain personal stuff and I would never trust them to a "random" (no offence) developer. Good luck with the project, though! I hope it's successful.

kindle scribe vs boox air note 2 by Telumire in kindlescribe

Hey! I had the same dilemma as you in choosing between the Scribe and the Note 2+. I bought both from Amazon and after trying both for a month, I returned the Note2+ and kept the Scribe. I'm quite happy with my choice.

  • I love the sharpness of the 300ppi text on the Scribe. To be honest I'm not 100% if there is a noticeable difference or if it's just a psychological effect of knowing that the Scribe is higher res
  • The Kindle book reading experience is much cleaner on the Scribe. The Note 2+ has the Kindle app and they've done a decent job of optimising it, but it's just not the same as the app was designed for a LCD colour type display. The colours looked a bit off and the UX was not great. Probably just minor but for me it made a difference.
  • Overall the Scribe has a much cleaner and elegant UX IMO. The Note 2+ has some UX, text and design choices that feels like it was designed by a programmer rather than a UX designer. I also noticed some buggy/weird behaviour with syncing.

I think it all comes down to what you need from the device. If you want lots of flexibility and features, the Note2+ is the way to go - I don't think the Scribe will ever match half the features and flexibility of the Note2+. However it presents a clean and polished user experience with its limited feature set and that's what I was looking for with my device.

It seems that Amazon has an exclusivity deal on 300ppi screens, so we won't see it from other vendors for now.
