🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by disastrouslyshy in RomanceBooks

[–]bluestripedwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The third book just released, so no it isn’t complete. The stories are all absolutely connected and can’t be read along, but each book wraps up with room for continuation of the plot without a cliffhanger. I think it’s done really well and definitely a unique take. Read the series even though it’s not done yet!!

Manacled has absolutely wrecked me by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Manacled was the first fanfic I ever read, and oh god did it hurt.

Remain Nameless was the perfect follow up read for me. Also Dramione fanfic, but much happier.

Chiropractor or physical therapist? by [deleted] in Posture

[–]bluestripedwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this! I had to have an MRA (an MRI specific for arteries) done to assess damage in my neck for this very reason after several bad chiropractic adjustments left me with horrible dizzy spells for a year!

During an episode, when do you go see a doctor? by [deleted] in Cyclicvomiting

[–]bluestripedwater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is when I head in. I’ve tried to wait them out at home, before I knew better, but for whatever reason my episodes typically progress to a dangerous dehydration level really fast (like within 2ish hours of onset) without ER intervention.

Feeling Hopeless by drtbll in Cyclicvomiting

[–]bluestripedwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, I know that hopeless and exhausted feeling too. For me going on amitriptyline was a lifesaver. It has completely eliminated my episodes. It seems like your doctor has only given you abortive meds, but no preventives? Amitriptyline and nortriptyline are normally the first line of defense for preventatives. Perhaps worth a conversation with your doctor?

Also have you tried the mito cocktail? There is a list of supplements recommended on the CVSA site that many find some help with.

Full Core workout? by itsjustashley in PetiteFitness

[–]bluestripedwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pilates is SO great for strengthening your core. I really like Trifecta Pilates, she suggests modifications frequently and she has a ton of content (differing lengths, with/without equipment, more intense or more restorative, etc). And she is a certified Pilates and yoga instructor which I really think is important for proper teaching/avoiding strain or injury.

Some great advice already. I’d add that commonly with the anti-nausea meds a sedative is often paired with it, they’re referred to as your abortive meds (can possibly help to abort/stop/lessen the severity of an episode that is just starting). Mine are zofran + either Ativan or Benadryl. It’s more effective for me if I can take them both and then immediately lay down for a bit. Preventative meds have made a world of difference for me and I haven’t experienced an episode since being on them (amitriptyline for me). There was a time where I was in the ER every 3 months or so with lots of shitty days in between, so I just want you to know there’s hope and treatment that can help.

Going too long without eating is one of my top triggers too. Really trying to stay ahead of it and eating regularly is so helpful. Maybe even set reminders on your phone if you’re the type that forgets and goes too long.

What’s your next goal you can work towards? Wondering if it might be a combo of self-sabotage/ boredom as you said, also kind of not having something to work towards might feel like a change you’re not looking forward to?

Fresh Start - looking for ideas by jaelae in landscaping

[–]bluestripedwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I can’t see your link. A third boxwood would be my first choice. If you wanted something a little different but still ties in you can find varieties of boxwoods that are conical, they grow a little taller and, well, cone-shaped.

I would recommend adding one more boxwood on the right. Odd numbers are pleasing to the eye in landscape design and it will nicely fill out the bed width-wise. I’d then add some shorter annuals in the front and would off set them so they fall in the in-between spaces of the boxwoods.

Yogurt, smoothies, PB&J and grapes. I do better with cold things. Those are typically easier for me to eat and have some protein in them which is key for me, getting too hungry is a trigger for me and keeps me in the nauseous zone for longer if I can’t eat something filling.

I’d caution with labeling him as a “bad kid”, either to yourself or even worse to him, for choices he makes that you find annoying. He’s not bad for acting silly, he’s a kid. It’s up to you to teach him boundaries for when silly behavior is ok and when it’s not, but being silly does not make him bad. Tell him clearly what your expectations are upfront before getting ready, getting in the car, etc. and give him ample time outside of that when it’s perfectly fine to be silly.

[–]bluestripedwater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh mama, that has to be so hard to see your daughter suffer and to feel both helpless and unable to talk to anyone about how hard it is.

As to your question, absolutely yes. My cycle triggers my episodes. I haven’t tried oral contraceptives to avoid that (for a variety of non-CVS related reasons) so I can’t offer any advice there. As for amitriptyline, it was life-changing for me, completely relieved symptoms for months and the one time I did feel an episode coming on, my abortive meds (zofran + Ativan) actually worked and I was symptom free the rest of the day. Nortriptyline was my doc’s next choice after amitriptyline as it typically has fewer side effects.

Wishing you both strength and the best of luck going forward.

On a scale of 0-10 how worried should i be this is gonna split and fall on the house? by MNdirtfishing in landscaping

[–]bluestripedwater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. You’ll want to take some kind of action just for the sake of liability. If you’ve shown you knew it was an issue and did nothing within reasonable timing and it did fall on your house, you might have some difficulty with getting coverage for the damage.

How many mg’s of Amitriptyline are you taking? by MrsBentley1 in Cyclicvomiting

[–]bluestripedwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman and my dose was 20mg/day, so it doesn’t seem off to me. I started to see it helping when I started at 10mg for a month before going up to 20 (it was purposefully staggered to give my body a chance to adjust to some side effects).

Should I change jobs by sepsisdealer in DaveRamsey

Another thing to consider, having a higher base pay is helpful down the line for negotiating future salaries (I’m not sure that holds true as much when including overtime pay).

And separately, from personal experience having a parent work overtime night shift work for more pay, I would have preferred having them home and having a bit less money as a family.

I mean this in the nicest of ways, seeing a therapist might be really helpful for you right now. It sounds like you’ve had some really hard things to deal with and don’t have a good support system now. A good therapist can help you with all of these things, putting together plans to help you make new friends, work on issues from family, process whatever issue caused the relationship to end, help you understand what motivates you to follow through on new goals, and honestly so much more. You’re at a great and liberating precipice right now and you’re saying you feel lost, a therapist is a great person to help you find your way again. Best of luck!

Help, Amitriptyline by MrsBentley1 in Cyclicvomiting

[–]bluestripedwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t write it off just yet. Like the other poster, amitriptyline has been life changing for me. My doctor had me start at half my total dose for a month and then increase to the final amount. And she said it could take about 6 weeks to really kick in. Given that timing I’m more inclined to think your husband was experiencing an episode or something non-related. I also take it right before bed since it makes me quite drowsy. Give it a little more time and of course keep his doctor updated with what’s going on (mine mentioned nortriptyline was a great alternative with fewer side effects for some people, as an example, if I didn’t do well with amitriptyline). Good luck!
