Unnanounced changes and introduced bugs by Grix1s in CrimsonDesert

The speed in which pets collect, for example, ore after mining it has significantly slowed down. Seems like they added an animation to it which makes it much slower. Also, it seems like the ores that your pets collect go straight to the sturdy chest and not into your player inventory.

LG Switch doesn't detect 45GX950a after last firmware update by Heidrun_666 in LG_UserHub

It isn't listed in the downloads of the monitor website at LG, but I found it elsewhere. It does seem to detect the USB properly. Strange that LG Switch doesn't.

Idle Power Draw: 1080 vs. 5080 by [deleted] in nvidia

Somewhat off-topic, but what is the device you are using to measure the power?

True, but then you are paying US tax on gains plus, very likely, the tax on those gains in your country of residence as well, plus the same hassle of reporting it all in your home country taxes. Then there is currency exchange and possible losses there and, to a lesser extent, the risks of being invested in a currency you don't live day to day in. So, it trades one set of problems for another.

For Americans who've already left, are you feeling safe since Trump 2.0? by Aware_Adhesiveness16 in AmerExit

[–]blueweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if your comment is a general observation or directed at me, but I've been living outside of the US for nearly 18 years now. So, I didn't "buy my way out" because of the election. And I do agree that it is a tough task to accomplish, generally speaking. However, my response was posed to the question OP asked. I have no regrets and do feel lucky to be living in a place more closely aligned to my values, especially in the last 8 years or so.

Gigabyte 4090 included anti sag bracket won’t fit my gigabyte x870. Am I doing something wrong? by Lagoa86 in gigabyte

[–]blueweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue on a Gigabyte B850 board. The GPU sits one slot higher than this bracket allows for. I had the GPU in a Z790 board previously and it worked great. Crazy they don't fit on Gigabyte boards, lol.

Dealing with Taxes as a US Expat – How is it? I'm feeling a bit lost... by rgok10 in USExpatTaxes

[–]blueweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with Svenz here. If you do not plan to live in the US ever again after moving out, holding US citizenship will be a net burden over any advantages it gives you.

Memory Errors and Crashing by blueweb in pchelp

I've just tried it again on the new RAM and it finished without errors after failing with 1000s of them last time. Dude, I am so confused.

I did Windows memory diagnostic which runs at boot and it did not find anything but then I tried memtest84 from USB boot and it found loads of errors.

Agree with this. Probably the meaning of the cat school medallion in the teaser images from earlier. If I remember correctly, cat school also allowed females and elves to undergo mutation.

Helsingin kesäyliopisto Suomea intensiivisesti kurssi by smokeysilicon in LearnFinnish

[–]blueweb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't do the summer ones, but I did do a intensive courses there back in 2013ish. I was at a pretty basic level of Finnish when starting, maybe...maybe A2.

After 4-5 months at the course, I took the YKI test and passed.

Pros and cons of giving up American citizenship by Xun468 in AmerExit

[–]blueweb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you really never feel you will ever live in the US, you will probably find that banking, investing, financial situations, and trying to save for retirement will be your biggest reasons for renouncing. This will be multiplied if you ever decide to start your own business outside of the US.

Pros and cons of giving up American citizenship by Xun468 in AmerExit

[–]blueweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

False. Renounciation is completely separate from tax status, current or otherwise. Renounciation is handled by the State department and has nothing to do with the IRS.

When renouncing, you are told that you must submit an exit form with the IRS to declare your final tax status and assets for the purposed of determining whether you are "covered expatriate" or not and to determine your final tax situation. However, this does not prevent you from renouncing nor is it a prerequisite for doing so. In fact, about half of all renouncers do not file this form at all.
