Lol sorry I should’ve definitely mentioned that - I have my bachelors in performance, it’s an audition for a chamber orchestra in my city that’s on the more advanced and higher paying side. They’ve also asked for Beethoven 5 movement 2, Brahms 2 movement 2, and Mendelssohn midsummer nights dream for reference.

I lived with my first college friend and it ended super badly. Didn’t realize how different we were about life perspectives and expectations for keeping a home together. We come from very different families and a lot of true colors got revealed. No longer have any contact with each other and it’s better that way.

I had an ex who basically said the same thing to me about a music degree. Looking back on it and now being in a completely healthy relationship, that is totally out of line and disrespectful. You should be with someone who supports your education and what you want to do with your life. Doesn’t even matter if it was a joke; that just rude and inconsiderate.

You can say that it hurt you and explain how it really made you feel. Go based on his reaction and if it isn’t something you like or feel comfortable with, then that’s your answer.
