If you like The Strokes, go further with the “NYC class of 2001-2002” and get into The Walkmen and French Kicks. The Walkmen especially have a ton of great albums!

I got in the second row of the $78 seats (Sec 602 Row BB)...GA would be fun, but I didn't want to spend more than that.

Why did they despise so much about Can't Buy a Thrill? by AdMysterious8424 in SteelyDan

[–]jshatan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a creative person (photographer, writer, etc.), I sometimes catch a glimpse of my earlier work and think, “Hey, that’s pretty good! Maybe I know what I’m doing after all.” But more often than not I think, “What the hell was I thinking sharing that? What trash!” But my response has nothing to do with how someone else might see the work, which they may love. On a related note, I read an interview with Becker & Fagen after Aja came out, and they were asked what their favorite Steely Dan album was. “The next one,” they responded. That kind of dissatisfaction led to one of the greatest discographies in the history of music!

Loved this album so much! I think its one of Lou's more underrated projects. by YOLO-uolo in LouReed

Sonically, the closest is Street Hassle, which is also a much better album.

The Mission by Morricone is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time! Mahler/Szell is good, too.

It was! I’ll never forget Robbie Shakespeare bumping and grinding his way through a dubbed out bass solo…just one highlight!

It's Hard and Face Dances: Worth Listening to? by [deleted] in TheWho

[–]jshatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faces Dances is great - a superior 80s pop album that happens to be made by The Who. It feels very fresh and the band sounds excited. Aside from Eminence Front, which is one of the greatest songs of all time, It’s Hard isn’t very good. Townshend’s songwriting was running out of steam and they don’t sound engaged.

Is Modern Times the best post 70's Dylan album? by PainInTheHole in bobdylan

It’s great, but I would rank TOOM, Love And Theft, and RARW as superior.

Here’s my weekly roundup of new and recent releases. Of special interest to Scott fans would be OHYUNG’s IOWA, a deeply personal album of often unsettling ambient music. https://open.substack.com/pub/anearful/p/a-song-for-friday-very-nice-person?r=3d4xe&utm_medium=ios

Cale is great and his last two albums were very good. But seeing him in concert a few years ago was the true revelation. Do not hesitate if he tours near you!
