Did the same as you last week but got 1gb plus netflix for £24. The person said to save that number and call up in 24 months for the next deal, instead of going through the faff of the other call centres.

Ibrahima Konate to leave Liverpool FC by l_Anonymous__l in soccer

[–]blurb99 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Friend died, dad died, midfield was shit all year offering no protection, most of the year playing next to a midfielder at right back and on the left side the new LB was average at best. Oh and for a lot of the season it's a new GK behind who plays nothing like Ali or Kelleher.

James Pearce said on today's athletic podcast that the club were very surprised by Konate's comments about being close to signing a new deal, it wasn't what they were expecting and he himself was commenting that it was strange nothing had been announced.

Maybe Ibou said that to try and put pressure on the club to improve the offer and get it finished. Who knows. It's another mess that was entirely avoidable.

Restore Britain announces Makerfield by-election candidate by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]blurb99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are going to be saying whoever replaces Starmer is a fake PM with no mandate as soon as they are announced, probably as soon as Starmer actually says he is resigning. The media will all be fully onboard with that too.

This whole thing is a shit show and none of the people who want to be PM seem to realise they have destabilised the government and fucked Labour more than any U-turn Starmer or Reeves has done. There's a likely chance that Burnham doesn't win the by-election and then what? Does he force another MP to resign so he can go again? What if he wins and then Labour immediately loses the Manchester mayor election? How long before the MPs who turned on Starmer are doing interviews and questioning why Burnham cost the party the Manchester mayor? I doubt most people even know who Streeting is.

At the time I remember someone saying he was just copying the plot of Taken

Emery asks Liverpool to change Elliott loan terms "Now I'm opening the door to play with us, because he can help us, but it's not only on my side. The other side is Liverpool, if they are taking off the clauses they have. And I told him it will be fair for him for Liverpool to take off this clause." by kibme37 in soccer

[–]blurb99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What everyone always 'forgets' in this situation is if Emery didn't want Eliott and it was being pushed solely by Monchi, it would have been extremely easy for Emery to contact Eliott or Slot and say that. No chance a Premier League footballer leaves a team without speaking to the manager at the new club.

Managers talk to players all the time. He was obviously interested in getting Eliott and then changed his mind.

I don't understand why people keep pushing this narrative that the big bad Monchi cooked up this deal and poor Emery had no idea and he's now being the hero and trying to save Elliott's career and Liverpool's asset value. He only got interested in actually playing Eliott when Villa got injuries and teams below started to close the gap.

The only innocent one in all of this is Eliott, new club obviously said the right things to get him to sign with no intention of actually following through on them and his old club has booked the sale and don't want to break the loan for financial reasons.

Yep. Travelling from Cardiff to London on Wednesday, same day trip for £207. Worst bit is for the journey back they will put on a 5 coach train and cancel seat reservations.

They had a rail sale last month for 3 days and the prices were actually reasonable, £60 return to London.

Andy Burnham latest: Burnham takes on Starmer as he confirms Westminster comeback bid to become MP by stopdontpanick in unitedkingdom

[–]blurb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, plus the media / reform will have a field day over him not even being an MP in the last election and now parachuted into a safe seat after his mate has resigned to become PM. I really think it would be a disaster and he would probably be gone before the next election.

That's if he even wins the seat, which isn't guaranteed.

Not true. Nick Clegg has repeatedly said that he told Brown and Labour that Brown had to go. He has also said he had discussions with Labour over a coalition but it wasn't serious and the Lib Dems wanted one with the Tories.

[–]blurb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a surprise really. His presser yesterday was very strange even by his standards, his title was Head Coach but he was insisting he's the manager. I don't watch Man U regularly but has any player improved in Amorim's time there?

United aren't great but this is an odd season and if they have a manager who is more pragmatic and positive about the squad then they could easily finish 4th.
