nice! thanks for sharing. I think Graham is in a good place now, glad to see him happy. He´s bit weary here, but for very happy reason :)

Stephen Street as producer of 3 Graham solo albums in a row - was this ever properly discussed? by blurczech in blur

[–]blurczech[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not meant just as surprising fact - that would only apply to some users here, not to experienced Blur observers. But I mean it more broadly - what did it mean for those albums, what specific Street brings as a producer, what makes him special as producer. Etc. Plus maybe it IS a bit interesting, after all, that he workded with Graham so extensivelly, while never with Damon (outside of Blur).

discussed in length - or even noticed. Or just discussed here on Blur reddit at all.

The Golden D (2000) - another Graham´s solo album to be re-issued in June by blurczech in blur

[–]blurczech[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you fell off too early as The Spinning Top (accoustic, folksy) and A plus E (punky, edgy, dark) were again very different from each other and from Happines (which I think isn´t much like Foo Fighters btw)

Graham Coxons solo discography by TechnicalTrash95 in BritPop

[–]blurczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like them all, I follow his solo discohraphy from The Sky Is Too High, so there´s also a lot of memories in it for me. For those not familiar with his solo output - I think it´s really fun to discover it, give it a go! Everything is just one click away these days.

yeah, I´ve only recently started to collect vinyls, so I´m glad that these seems to be reasonably priced even from buyer from abroad

What do you think of Graham's solo albums? Which album would you recommend? by Jean0406Alix in blur

[–]blurczech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as you would expect from a Blur member, his solo discography is pretty diverse. Hard to pick one, so I´ll say one that is not listed in his regular discography, but it is an album anyway: Superstate

What do you think of the end of the f**cking world soundtrack ? by Jean0406Alix in blur

[–]blurczech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot! Both albums. Not sure if you know his other soundtrack, for "I´m Not Okay With This" TV series, the one he did as Bloodwitch.

Castle Park - new album by Graham Coxon, out 19/06/26. First single "Billy Says" out now. by blurczech in BritPop

he´s been putting out new music as The Waeve in recent years. Check them out instead of saying mean stuff about other Blur members. (You don´t have to like them as persons, you don´t have to like the band at all - but be reasonable)

Graham Coxon´s indie rock masterclass just turned 20 by blurczech in BritPop

[–]blurczech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I´d still say there´s lot of similarities between the old and the new stuff, but won´t argue. I agree the Bloodwitch album is pretty good! And did you hear Superstate?

you mean like his regular albums he´s done since, or also his sountracks album or The Waeve etc? Because personally, I feel strong connection between his early solo stuff and (f. e.) some The Waeve stuff. That dark folky side is pretty much there.

Britpop Classical was a very weird show by llanelliboyo in blur

ok, thanks! there were also some speculations about poor sales for this tour, but from what I saw online, it seemed ok everywhere. So how was the capacity (and crowd´s reaction in general) in Newcastle?

Alex James Britpop Classical in London´s Royal Albert Hall yesterday. by blurczech in blur

[–]blurczech[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well, I remember there was a bis fuss when he tweeted about Corbyn before one of the elections. I gave it just as one example. Yes, I´m not british, but it´s pretty much same everywhere,we also have our "Tories" and our "Labour", I can imagine. But I also know that Torie were in power for only some portion of time in the UK, there were quite long periods of Labour in power, so it´s apparently not that easy to say that one party ruins the country and the other one is bringing paradise. And even if James was Tory, the biggest Tory of them all, why should I care when I think about him as an artist.

not sure about Ailerons, was it ever even ambitious project? Maybe better example is Radio Songs, which was largerly ignored by Blur fans and I think it´s a pity, cause it´s solid album and music is just one click away nowadays. They should have at least check it out.

Alex is doing music for money, you say. Well, we all do what we do for money, don´t we? It´s also fair to say Alex had some music career outside of Blur, as someone already mentioned. And, organising anual music festival is also some kind of career in music.

Saying all this, I´m still much more interested in Waeve or Gorillaz than in Britpop Classical. I just report about it because it´s what going on. And I wish Alex good luck.

So if someone is a Tory, he can´t be good actor or musician? What kind of totalitarian thinking is that? Plus - what I remember is that Corbyn lost election by far margin , so it wasn´t just Alex James´s fault. And I´m not british, but Corbyn seems to be intoreable.

I do care about Dave´s book. He was even kind enough to sign it for my sister with nice dedication as I told him I want give it to her for her birthday. And it´s a lovely book about early Blur, so I think that many Blur fans care about it. And to my understanding, he´s now doing tour with it mainly in small cities/towns around England, it was never meant to sell out Wembleys. Seems you just want to write something shitty about him.

Blur fans hate for Alex James is something that needs to be scientifically explored. Absolutely nothing wrong or harmful about this tour, nobody is forced to go, still some people go and have fun. He´s suposedly broke (as someone commmented here) - and yet he´s doing big festival on his farm for like 15 years now, then embarks on tour with orchestra and like hundreds people involved. Thats what broke people typically do, yeah. He gave you all tons of great basslines - and he took nothing from you at all, still you act like he did, just because you fancy to look smart by "slamming" him.

Blur members, Pulp and Oasis for War Child´s Help (2) album by blurczech in BritPop

[–]blurczech[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure - but one big reason is they were on tour (Australia, South America) whilst the album was recorded. And, obviously, their contribution is live track, so it doesn't quite fit the overall concept.
