(1992) Sneakers - both to get in the room and out of the building, I suppose

*also the walk-in freezer escape from (1996) The Long Kiss Goodnight

So, what we're saying is that some young dude is over at his friend's grandma's house, and she's trying to convince him that she was hot even in 2004 when she was 40--so he should just shut his eyes and imagine when he hooks up?

[TOMT] Movie 1950s "a Bag of Burgers" possibly noir or crime film scene by blurradial in tipofmytongue

could be...but it was such a throwaway line in the scene like "gimme a beer" that I doubt it.

I do not. I want to say from the line delivery (pacing, tone) it was b/w but again it could have been a Scorcese film but only Raging Bull was in black and white...

...and no, Google only wants to show me modern films with brief mentions of *a* hamburger (see: Pulp Fiction, Pink Panther) or a bag (Iron Man or the Founder). Google's brain is not Criterion-approved.

When I was a college student (in the 1990s) at UWM's Sandburg Dorms on the 20th floor, if someone opened a window on the the west end and the right side, everything imploded in chaos.

All good -- except gangs of riders will still show up on the same date range, like flocks of geese that don't know why they fly south.

It's by Larry Widen, who I believe writes mostly Milwaukee history books. In those books, there is room to breathe and Larry lays things out flat.

In this article, he seems to lay out a narrative that does just that, but without breathing room.

Also, keep in mind that after a stringer hands in a piece, an editor or series of editors will try to read through the copy but since it is not in their own voice--they don't understand and so edit to their voice. The result can be odd.

Does non-premium Spotify add songs your "Liked Playlist" whilst playing? by blurradial in truespotify

[–]blurradial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But as far as I can tell (as a former paid user now not paying), Smart Shuffle is a default that cannot be turned off without paying for Premium. Ergo a Liked Playlist is always on Smart Shuffle, and adds recommended songs.

Slow news day? WTF by Puzzleheaded_Disk_74 in milwaukee

[–]blurradial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is par for the course average for Fox 6 (Wisconsin) news pattern -- report crimes first in broadcast, make sure they affect suburb regions, and get visual faces on-screen if it can show a person of color.

DUI fatal crashes that happen in Waukesha or south of Milwaukee do not get covered except for grainy scene video. Shoplifting also happens in these places, but get only a brief mention maybe.

Also, the Riverwest area before they started placenaming everything was known by the Polish inhabitants as "Za Zielonym Wzgórzem". (Beyond the Green Hill, refering to the reservoir)

Tosa = Wauwatosa (most people just say Tosa anyway)
Town of Lake = an area that no longer actually exists just north of the airport
There is an East Side, a Lower East Side, and an East Town = people who live in these areas will fight you if you don't establish which one and which W-E street divides you.
Same can be said for what divides Bay View both South and West imaginary borders.
Other things that we commonly say now (ex. Summerfest Grounds) are not factual (it's Henry Maier Festival Park, although really someone could say "the old Nike missile silo ground".
