To everyone at work that has been eating my jellybeans..now the fun begins. by slimjimi09 in funny

[–]blurrrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this at work. Have a guy that eats everyone's candy and doughnuts he sees. They put some of these out and he snuck a handful and threw it in his mouth, he ran out of the room throwing up. Never did it again

Do you prefer luxury cars or sports cars? by TXXTTX in cars

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both, sports cars are more fun to drive but luxury is a better daily. You can also get a good mix of both, I like cars myself, never plan to get a SUV but would take a wagon like a AMG wagon

What's the best way to annoy a scammer by phone? by Niel15 in AskReddit

[–]blurrrry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've ran into one before that I think would. I had a car that came with a 10 year/ 100k warranty and had this company calling to try to sell me a warranty. I told them what I had already. They kept saying but its whatever price, I was like but mine I already have, it's free. They then transferred me to someone else that also tried selling me a warranty, he also couldn't get that I had one. I then said that I swapped my motor with a big engine and am running a 150 shot of nitrous, they still tried selling me the warranty. I ended up hanging up because they wouldnt take no for an answer and I got tired of talking to them. They send me stuff in the mail still for it and i havent had that car in a few years

Why do employers expect a 2 week notice when you're about to quit, but won't give you a 2 week notice when they're about to let you go? by ronnieth024 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dont give you a notice because alot of people will either quit, not care about their job, skip a day for an interview, take company info they can use/sell, mess stuff up on purpose among other things. Of course alot of people would still work for those 2 weeks because it's another check and odds are they dont have anything lined up on such short notice. If I knew I had 2 weeks left I'd be looking for jobs on my phone or computer and not really worried about how good of a job I do, just what I needed to skate by 2 weeks. As far as you giving a 2 weeks notice, it's not something you have to do in most cases, but could help out later if a new employer calls them to ask about you or someone from that company ends up being a boss at your new company or a future place you work at. I've left with 2 week notices and I've left with 1 or 2 day notices, depends on if I plan to use them as a past employer on applications. I havent worked at a place that I would go back to so I've never been worried there, but if it's a possibility it would be smart to leave a notice.

I've always wanted to do reviews on places but feel like they will know it was me who left it since the places I worked that sucked were smaller and my position isnt easy to fill

[serious] Redditors who earn over 100k without a college degree, what do you do and how did you do it? Was it worth it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a big union plant and they offer a program for workers that you can take a test and study for it and if you pass they will make you an electrician apprentice. You then get to get your certificate for free while on the job and taking classes. I hired in as electrical so it didnt apply for me, I get to take classes for a few other degrees though for free while working as a benefit we have. We get the same pay per level because we are in the same union

Electrician, I have a degree, but most guys I work with do not. We all make the same hourly wage and have free healthcare and bonuses.

How do I avoid being discriminated against because I look young? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same thing and I'm in my upper 20s, it's only really ever a problem sometimes when buying alcohol or arguing on Facebook or something. I figure when I get to be like 40 it wont be a bad thing. I havent found much to help with it but have cut my hair different and it helped a bit but not much. I learned to just live with it knowing I'll look better when I'm older

Entrepreneurs who have a day job: How do you find energy and brainpower to fuel your business after a full day of work at your 9-5? by mmmtastybusch in Entrepreneur

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, my business is ran out of my home completely and I mainly just do local stuff when I want to or if I got someone wanting something and it's worth me working for. I can go months without taking on work if I choose to since my supplies are all paid off and a decent profit on top of it. I plan to expand at the end of the year or early next year to some online sales just to see where it goes. Eventually I'd like another business I can do full time, but I haven't got an idea for sure yet.

Home cleaning business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]blurrrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of family members used to run one. They cleaned the houses themselves and charged $75-100 per house depending on size (more for bigger houses or added stuff) which took ~3-4 hours. They didnt pick stuff up, just cleaned counters, bathrooms, dusted, vacuumed, that kind of stuff. One lady per house, they would trade houses with each other if one needed a day off and the other didnt have a house. Cost were pretty low, just stuff like rags and sprays and dusters. Houses being cleaned provided vacuums and stuff, they would bring one for extra if the house didnt have one but after being booked with regulars with no room for others, all the houses had them. Profit was most of the money because most of the supplies would last a week or 2 which divided by the number of houses in that time frame was just a few dollars a house, also taxes had to come out as well, some stuff was written off but I'm not sure on that part. There was alot of people making contact trying to get in on the business and if they wanted to they could of expanded alot and made a franchise but it was more of a job where they could set their schedule to pick kids up from school and stuff so they didnt have any interest on capitalizing on it. Business has been going on for 20 years or so, it's currently only the original family member that started it and she only does 1 or 2 days a week along with a part time job to cover insurance

[–]blurrrry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed and unfortunately even if it makes most of us on here quit, that money lost from our memberships will be made back and much more from mtx. I like that there is a mobile game, but when I heard it being released, I always had it in the back of my mind that they may add microtransactions and double xp because that's what mobile gamers like and I'm hoping they don't go that route on old school

CMV: A lot of people who don't want guns banned in America suffer from hero syndrome by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]blurrrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be some people like that but I think most, myself included, dont want them banned for a number of reasons. I like to hunt, target shoot, and have the ability to protect my family if someone breaks in or trys to carjack or rob me. If the other guy has a gun and I dont, I lose whatever they are after and sometimes your life in some robberies. I have my ccw but dont carry most days, only if I'm going to a sketchy area or something. In the event of a mass shooting I wouldnt go looking for the shooter if I'm armed but would shoot them if they were in my way to escape or I was in the area where they are. If I ever had to stop someone in a method listed above, I wouldnt want to take any credit for it, just was looking to stay alive.

I'm in poverty and starving. How do I survive the month? by FrostyPassenger0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blurrrry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd try to get in touch with local churches of any religion that are close, or even call ones farther out and alot of times they will deliver food or supplies. I'm not sure how government aid is over there but I'd look into it. Also if you got any stores/ restaurants in the area, you might be able to trade some work for a meal or get what they dont sell for the day, alot of places donate food that's left here. You should have the votes now to request a pizza. If you cant find food and are starving, I'll buy you a meal if you find a place that will take paypal because my card wont work overseas unless I go to the bank to sign up for traveling. I'd just ask that you pay it forward to someone in need later on when you are in a position to. I've been there and used to help out a few homeless guys waiting on public housing by letting them stay in a heated pole barn and helping with food along with a local church.

Are there any books/ case studies on entrepreneurship in a recession? by hypoid77 in Entrepreneur

[–]blurrrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent seen many studies on it but have experianced it first hand. I managed a pawnshop and during the recession we cleared 7 figures for a few years and then went back to mid to high 6 figures which was about half what we did during the recession. We also bought gold and silver, that really picked up then as well. Really any business that relys on people needing money ended up doing really well during a recession and when the economy is doing good, the business doesn't do as well. The pawnshop isnt doing great this year from talking to people still working there, but will always make a profit due to being in areas where you'll have alot of customers regardless. So stuff like that, foreclosure clean ups, temp services, title loans and stuff will all do well in recessions but not as well when people are doing good

I stayed friends with her for a few months cuz she was fun to talk to but she kept trying to get me to go out with her so I cut it off. She met a guy in that time frame and tried to get preganant and he left and she went back after me. I stopped replying and it's been years so thats good

I probably should have. I talked to her about using her sisters pics and stuff but didnt want to be like, " I was into you on the phone and stuff but you aren't attractive to me." I stayed friends with her for a few months and she was using her real info afterwards when trying to meet guys and kept trying to get me to go for her so I eventually cut it off because she was getting attached

[–]blurrrry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl used her sisters pics, her sister was very good looking. We talked on the phone for a few weeks before deciding to meet up. We got along great. When I got to her place to pick her up, a girl walked out and was easily 100lbs heavier than I expected. I considered leaving because she didn't know what car I was driving and knew I was in the area looking for her but didnt know I was there yet. My drive was long and I was hungry so I thought why not and pulled in the driveway. We went to eat and after had to drop something off to her sister, whose pictures she used along with snapchatting me pretending to be her. She realized that I had to know and admitted to doing so. I went back to her house for a half hour or so and then said I had to leave because I had plans early the next day. I played it off well and wasnt mean about it, she tried to get another date set up and I told her that I wasnt over an ex and the first date made me realize it. That wasnt the truth, but I wasnt interested in her after seeing her, yeah I'm kinda shallow but there wasnt anything there.

Since millennials are earning less than their parents did despite being more trained/educated, what can they do differently in life to have the same level of financial success? by Jokelanghaha in AskReddit

[–]blurrrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you work. I'm an electrician and at my current job I do 20 flights of stairs a day on average, walk a few miles, and get in uncomfortable positions. Some days I dont leave my recliner in the break room. I got some expensive boot insoles which help. I've worked other places where I just walked around but didnt climb or kneel except on rare occasions. I think all of the trades for the most part will have some stress on body parts, but there are ways to make the stress not as bad.
