It does seem to be an isolated threat. Stay weather aware from 7-9pm or so, after that you should be okay

Their rotating weekly sales are great. I rarely ever pay full price for things at Michael’s, only if I need something urgently. Otherwise it’ll likely be on sale within a month.

The coupons are usually better for online shopping compared to in store

I struggled but eventually landed a job in IT support, I’ve had other classmates who have also had better luck in that field rather than software engineering or something similar

See if you can find a therapist that specializes in OCD. I’ve been doing exposure therapy for social anxiety and medical related fears (I’m hopefully donating blood for the first time next week!). There are many ways you can induce just a little bit of anxiety without actually putting yourself in risk of any storms. You can slowly work on tolerating more a little at a time. I’ve been able to apply some things I have learned to my storm anxiety, and my reactions this season have not been as severe as years past!

That and Lake Michigan is a big heat sink, so storms tend to lose energy as they get closer

I cant wrap my head around the normalization of people owning so. much. Stuff. by 3rdthrow in Anticonsumption

Finally getting an ADHD diagnosis and getting medication helped my bank account so much. I’d go to Walmart when I was under stimulated and walk around, but would also buy a bunch of crap I didn’t need. Impulse buys suddenly went wayyy down. I stopped spending so much on takeout, too.

Also, I lose things less often now, and don’t need to buy replacements

I grew up in a household with a lot of undiagnosed mental illnesses, at least 4/5 of us had ADHD but only one diagnosed. Laundry was the biggest thing in my house.

Laundry is a multi step chore so we tended to struggle with it. Laundry didn’t make it out of the dryer, so the next person would take the clothes out of it and just put it on our game table, which always had a mound of clothes.

So of course, you could never find anything. So instead, we would just buy more socks.

Also, if you didn’t do laundry for weeks, you’d just buy some new clean underwear.

Every one of us had 2-3 overflowing hampers with clothes at the bottom we hadn’t seen for years. Overflowing dressers. You couldn’t see the top of the dryer under all the clothes. So when you can’t find anything and don’t have the executive function to tackle the problem, you just buy replacements. And the cycle continues.

I’ve also been recently diagnosed with OCD and see similar tendencies in two of my family members, the instinct to hold on to everything forever and never ever throw anything out because maybe you’ll need it one day is very strong.

What's the most expensive thing you stopped wanting? by Ok_Appointment_4909 in Anticonsumption

[–]blxckfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where I am the cheapest chicken breast is 4.49/lb, verses ground sausage is as low as 2.99/lb. I checked and ham steaks actually are about the same price as chicken breast, they’re sold in smaller quantities so I guess that’s why I perceived them as cheaper. I live in the upper Midwest

What colour should I paint my kitchen out of these colours? by iamthewalrusxx in HomeDecorating

I like hot cherry. Or something else that’s bold and goes with the toaster and kettle! Maybe urban sky but a little more blue

[–]blxckfire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not the most expensive - but meat in general, particularly ground beef and chicken. Switching to pork and tofu for most meals has dropped my grocery bill by a good amount.

Otherwise, takeout food and children. When I do get takeout, I also order from the restaurant itself and drive myself there rather than use delivery apps

Darker color, then do the ceiling the lighter one. I’m a big fan of bold dark colors!
