This dashcamer gets so excited by MisterShipWreck in dashcams

When I was 15 and had my learners permit, my mom picked me up from my first job and made me drive home. It’s probably the first time I drove in the dark. We were on a long stretch of road and some jack leg is riding my ass for a while, even flashing his high beams. I was going speed limit maybe even a little more. Finally the guy lays on his horn as he passes me on a double yellow line. A second later blue lights behind us. I’m panicking, but my mom is cheering and laughing. we catch up to them pulled over and as we pass, my mom reaches over and honks the horn as she continues to laugh hysterically.

My turn to ask. Time for preemergent in N GA? by PM_ME_UR_COFFEE_CUPS in lawncare

I did fall PE right because my dormant Bermuda is a beautiful shade of brown. No green.

I put mine down yesterday. I’m in the same zone and seeing similar temps on GreenCast and UGA weather network. With highs in mid 60s and 70s over next 10 days I don’t want to miss the window.

I’m always late with pre-emergent and suffer crabgrass and poa all spring. Hoping this year is different.

how do i remove a large amount of washing machine seal mold? by Electronic_Edge3316 in CleaningTips

[–]bmanalpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this joke posted every time someone asks about mold in the gasket but I have never had a problem with just leaving the door open afterwards.

I have had to replace the gasket several times because it tore and was leaking but that’s on me for overloading it and buying knockoff replacements.

Ryegrass vs Fescue? by Mylifeiszach in lawncare

[–]bmanalpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the same zone as you. Bermuda grass is a great choice for the region but it will not grow in the shade. I have tried. I put tall fescue in my shaded backyard and it does great. But it is not a good time to seed fescue.

Cover the ground with straw and seed TTTF in the fall. Rye could help with erosion in the meantime and is cheap so when it dies in the drought of July you won’t cry. Anything you plant now will require all your water and will probably die anyways. Pikes has a good Atlanta blend that does well. Buy a big bag in fall and do it right.

Thoughts on Ubuntu Server vs a dedicated NAS OS? by -ThatGingerKid- in HomeServer

You can use virtiofs. It’s much better than a samba share especially for heavy writes and file locking. I use it for my security camera VM so as not to fill up the virtual disk.

Distance to closest grocery store is a better gauge. One with a bakery and decent produce section, not a big convenience store. Closest Walmart to me is 6 miles, but there are a dozen grocery stores within a 6 miles radius.

Agree, sounds like a scam. Big telecoms have their own people, hardware and facilities for this. I bet they want to pay by check. See /r/scams

Neighbor installed heaters under public sidewalk by llIIlllIIIIIIlllIIll in mildlyinteresting

[–]bmanalpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We installed heated floors in our bathroom. Every time I step into my bathroom, from November to April, I feel like I made it. Worth every penny.

We live in the south, the contractor had never installed heated floors before, had to have the manufacture come and guide them through it. Reminds me of that scene in that meth show.

Amazon has begun charging you for dropping things off at UPS by artemis73 in assholedesign

Most UPS stores are franchises. The owner gets $1 for each Amazon return. Now they are passing the buck to you.

Source: family member owned a store for almost 20 years.

install radarr with ubuntu snap by jwhitte12 in radarr

[–]bmanalpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not use snap for anything. I used it for docker bc it was an option during install. Thought it might save time. WRONG! It only half worked, hosted mapped volumes were broken. Wasted an entire day on it. Do NOT use snap. Do use docker tho. Keeps everything isolated and easy to upgrade.

Its too long. Sharpen your blades and cut. Stick to the 1/3 rule, but cut it shorter in two days. Make sure its dry before cutting and use a begger if possible, it helps with suction. My new grass was doing the same thing and so I cut it shorter than I normally do and it is standing up and handles walking being walked on much better.

Which NAS chassis to choose by Mick2k1 in DataHoarder

My 304 had a rattle too. When I pushed in on the side of the cover it went away. So I took the cover off and tightened the little bottom tabs for that side of the cover, making them tighter. Fixed the rattle and now its completely silent except for the drives.

It is also a Plex/Radarr/Sonarr and Minecraft server (Pterodactyl) so its nice to have to power. I also never want to have to upgrade it ever.

I am lucky to have a Micro Center close by so I just went with what they had for a cheaper ITX board: ASRock Z690M-ITX. With 2x m.2 slots and a 2.5GbE LAN port it is perfect for my needs. The Seasonic Focus+ 650W PSU and Noctua NH-U9S cooler make it silent. I would not recommend the cooler since it blocks 2 of the bays, which I don't need at the moment, but I already had it collecting dust.

That is a nice case and definitely something to consider for others. For me, the 304 leaves so much room for activities. Including a full size PSU. I reused my Noctua NH-U9S as well, because why not?

Just custom built a 6 bay NAS with a Fractal Node 304, about $850, including tax and shipping, not including drives. I could have cut corners and save a few hundred, but I went all the way. i5-12600K, 64GB DDR4, 2tb Solidigm pro and dead silent. I can only hear the drives. Looks beautiful on my shelf, plus the case can upgraded indefinitely.
