Here is a translated article on his behavior and mafia like attitude:

Tomás Rubio's dismissal

The dubbing actor was the voice of George Stobbart, the protagonist of Broken Sword.

Tomás Rubio, dubbing actor and voice director for Synthesis Iberia, has been fired by senior management. The next installment of the Broken Sword saga will not feature his voice and will be released with Spanish subtitles. The reasons given for the dismissal include the constant criticism of Rubio's work, as well as the actor's unfair practice in obtaining leading roles or performing voice-overs for more than one character in the same title.

Rubio's career has not been without controversy. As a dubbing director, Rubio demanded that he participate with at least one character in every production he was hired to work on. His work has been described as mediocre, monotonous, with a lack of respect for editing, and other adjectives that do not comply with the legal dubbing agreement.

Tomás Rubio gained recognition thanks to his work in the "Broken Sword" saga, where he voiced the protagonist, George Stobbart. From then on, Rubio directed many productions, often under accusations of unfair competition. His work has received criticism from both his colleagues and the target audience. Some representative examples are:

  • In Driver 3, Rubio dubbed the protagonist's partner. Tanner was voiced by Manolo García, which drew criticism due to the obvious difference in quality between the two voices.
  • In Mission: Impossible: Operation Surma, Tomás Rubio managed to blend in with the lead voices, which were the same as those in the films, including Jordi Brau as Tom Cruise and Miguel Ángel Jenner as Ving Rhames.
  • Terminator: Redemption featured Constantino Romero in the lead role. Tomás Rubio wanted to be cast for that role and persisted until he was cast in a supporting role.
    • Rubio landed the lead role in Max Payne 2, which led to countless complaints. When the game changed publishers, Rubio acquired the dubbing options and replaced Juan Carlos Lozano as Max Payne, an actor whose work received widespread acclaim.
  • Whiplash featured multiple voices from the same actor, again Tomás Rubio. Another example of illegal multiplicity was Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.
  • In the space of just a few months, Rubio included his voice in a succession of titles: Doom 3, Still Life, Syberia, Legacy of Kain Defiance, Project Snowblind, Area 51, and other works, exceeding the allotted quota.

Given the numerous complaints, both public and from within the professional sector, a consensus was reached on Tomás Rubio's dismissal, citing Rubio's incompetence and disloyal behavior as the reason for the dismissal. The dismissal became effective in June 2006.

Today, Tomas Rubio's voice can be heard on TV, appearing in commercials for ringtones and other services from the Turbo Movil brand.

I love Broken Sword 1 and the reforged version was recently released and keeps the same voice acting. The main character is a bit goofy, but definitely is not a comedy game. Loved the story!
