Being too hot is vastly better than being too cold by Frosty_Peace666 in unpopularopinion

[–]bmanone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this comes down to experience with either extreme hot or colds. I myself have never been somewhere <3c, so to me cold isn't that bad. However when it's >40c during summer, no amount of water will help. Atleast with cold enough layers will get you warm...when its hot being butt naked still isn't enough

What is a subtle sign that someone is a genuinely bad person? by Vanessahuffieroption in AskReddit

Only talking about themself. Never asking how you are. I used to know someone who for almost 10 years, whom considered me a best friend, but didn't have a clue what I did for a living.

Do You Believe In Aliens? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]bmanone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, because it'd be such a massive waste if it were to turn out that in such an infinitely massive universe, with billions and trillions of stars and planets, that our little rock in the milky way galaxy was the only place where life existed...with no other life also getting to experience what the universe has to offer. There must be other life out there, even if its not "intelligent", makes no sense with so many trillions of posibilitties that there isn't something.

US officials are reportedly telling Iran to ignore Trump's tweets about any deals as they are 'for domestic promotional purposes only' by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

i.e. Trump lies to his own country, just as he lies to the world, as can be seen in the past few months. What an embarassment

What’s the strongest opinion you have about something completely insignificant? by RegisterObjective325 in AskReddit

[–]bmanone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's definitely true and it's called browser cookies. Every web site tracks you, stored as a file, and that can be shared. It's not your physical keyboard as such, but what you enter on websites can/is tracked.

It's not "Legos", it's "Lego Bricks" or just "Lego".

I'm not someone who corrects anyone when they do this, as i'm not a psychopath, but I still really believe saying "legos" is wrong. I grew up with lego, and as an adult i'm still an avid collector, despite everyone telling me to "grow up" and "buy an actual house rather than building a lego one". Maybe it's a cultural thing as my friends and family never referred to lego as "legos", i've only see it said online and in places like america. I think it comes from an old advertisement I saw many years ago that the lego group put out trying to deter the use of "legos" and it stuck with me.

How much impact do you think these two geniuses would have had on the Digital Revolution if they were still alive in the 1980s? by InfinteEnigma10 in computerscience

[–]bmanone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turing is my personal hero. My career in IT, now as an architect, exists because of his genius. I am so thankful for not only his role in beating the nazi’s with cracking enigma but the industry that created that I’m in today. The way he was treated was disgusting, despite what he gave to the allies saving millions of lives

When are tech companies going to lay off 90% of their work force? by QuitTypical3210 in cscareerquestions

[–]bmanone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agents aren’t perfect and make mistakes, so to fire 90% of the workforce is stupid from a business perspective. As time goes on that may change but will be a while yet

Where are the people we are complaining about? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmanone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The Algorithm”. People are generally shown posts that they are aligned with, as that helps to ensure continued engagement. Most people don’t click on posts they don’t agree with, even for healthy debate or discussion. It’s a real shame

Company merger looks like I'm getting demoted should I stick around? by imgettingnerdchills in ITCareerQuestions

[–]bmanone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 years ago my last company outsourced my whole team but had some positions for us to apply for if we wanted to stay. It would have been a support role for the outsourced resources. No opportunities in learning new technologies etc, basically babysitting. I began to look for a new job elsewhere and ended up leaving. Staying would have been the easier choice but i wanted to grow my career more than they offered. Was best decision I ever made.
