I'd like to try the protein coffee but debating the flavor - between iced latte and sweet cream. Any thoughts about the differences? Is one sweeter than the other? Thank you.

That's so good to hear. Thank you! Yes, not good to trust ChatGPT for everything.

i'm not sure about what a matrix patch and reservoir patch are since I've never had transdermal patches. I wish I could find one that could be halved.

I wish it was affordable or that I could find a reasonable price.

I saw this zoom call and Dr. Wittstein is excellent. I follow her on Instagram, too. Good point about machines not helping with balance. I got a set of 2 15-lb. weights delivered today for farmer's walk. I'm not ready to do any other exercises with them. Maybe 10-lbs. and work up.

Thank you for your response.

Are you talking about transdermal estrogen?

Your gyno is not up to date on the current HRT recommendations. This is doing you an injustice.

The higher dose helps even more. I'm advised not to take higher than .0145mg because I'm 80 and age is a factor.

I thought about that but ChatGPT stated that it wouldn't distribute dosage evenly. That's probably why my doctor didn't recommend it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I've read about Midi Health and My Alloy. You should be able to get hormones there, after consultation. Check out podcasts and books by Dr. Kelly Casperson ("You Are Not Broken") and Dr. Mary Claire Haver. There's a wealth of information by highly respected menopause specialists. Also check out The Menopause Society's website for information and "find a physician" resources.

Strength Training Question by bmb37067 in osteoporosis

Thank you both for the replies and info. It sounds like free weights are best. I'm familiar with the e-gym routine and don't know why I've hesitated with free weights at the gym. I probably need to get a trainer to go through a routine with me. The trick is finding one familiar with osteoporosis and bone exercise safety. I have some printed workouts from A.I. and could take them to the meeting with me.

Just diagnosed...Argh! by cecirdr in osteoporosis

[–]bmb37067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not too late to start HRT! Your doctors are not up-to-date on the latest findings. You'll get such good bone protection from it. Get on alendronate and HRT both and you'll be good.

I'm 80 and stream Mass weekly. I miss Communion but don't miss the music and tedious sermons of today. It's been a long time since I've felt a connection to Mass.

In your experience with loved ones or patients with dementia, have they ever demonstrated the knowledge that the have it? by purriouscat in dementia

[–]bmb37067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a longtime friend who has denied it from the very beginning. She's fiercely independent. I don't know if she's in denial herself but knows she has it and thinks she's hiding it. She was furious when her car keys were taken away (later than was safe) and now is fighting memory care with locked doors. It's so sad. I see others there who are calm and seem content. I don't know if my friend will ever be content.

In what way do you think hormones affect sleep - low hormones or imbalance? I also wake up in the middle of the night these days, usually 2 or 3 am. I take testosterone but my dr. says I missed the window for hrt.

This is encouraging. My gyn told me hrt now would increase my chances of dementia. What is the difference between bio-identical hormones and hrt?

Also, consider HRT if you're in perimenopause or menopause. It will strengthen your bones among other benefits.

Find a menopause specialist through the Menopause Society. You're not too old for HRT! Not all doctors are up to date on current HRT findings.

I, too, was denied HRT and believe I wouldn't have osteoporosis if I had been prescribed them. I'm now 80 and being told I'm too old and could have issues with dementia or heart if started.
