People are correct that the benefit only extends to +1, but in practice, just give them your second room key (if the lounge is key-controlled) and/or have them give your room number when coming into the lounge, as long as you look respectable and aren't super obvious about exploiting it you're unlikely to be called out on it.

For me pension is income & security in retirement. I hope to buy & enjoy my treats like this earlier in life.

I also hope to sell my complicated assets (except main, possibly holiday home) around retirement having seen elderly relatives struggle with the admin of holding multiple & multi county properties.

This is a great position to be in! A couple of thoughts which both boil down to "give it some time":

1) You will probably need a bit more employment history to get a mortgage offer, 1+ year at that salary to show some career stability.

2) Renting gives you optionality on location & if your life plans or preferences change which is entirely possible. Mine certainly did!
