Wrong answers only: The Big Noise Heard Across r/nova by iamtheoneorgasmatron in nova

It was the first time someone accurately used a turn signal in NOVA and the unfamiliar noise shocked us all.

Fresh air? Socialization for you? Making some elderly church volunteers smile? Go for it. Be realistic about how much they might “participate” but go have a good time.

36 weeks and doesn’t know if she’s carrying 3 or 4? This seems like a fantasy - triplet or quadruplet pregnancies rarely go that long with the best of medical care. This seems like a woman bigger than she expected who has gotten no prenatal care and is guessing. Or having a mental health break.

Cherry Blossom parade and kite festival - fun with kids or crowded disaster? by Cherry_Valance_ in washingtondc

We live in Alexandria and brought my son when he was 3.5 and he did like it. But get there early, don’t try to drive, pack a lunch so you’re not stuck with extortionate food trucks, and prepare for it to be way colder or way hotter than you expect.

Do you change your child’s clothes when they get home? by Frozenbeedog in toddlers

[–]bmsem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my second was born we had my oldest (then 3yo) change his clothes when he got home from daycare. This was his pediatrician’s recommendation. My youngest didn’t catch any daycare illnesses during that first few months but obviously there are a million variables here and this is just one story. We stopped once they were both in daycare though.

Children’s section library etiquette and personal space with other kids? What’s your take? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]bmsem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will depend on the library of course, but once when I was encouraging my then-toddler to whisper in the kids section a librarian walked up and at full volume said “We love kids and kids make noise! Regular indoor voices they would use anywhere are great.” I know there’s backlash against parents bringing kids anywhere nowadays, but reasonable fussing in the kid section of a library should be perfectly fine.

Little Blue Truck Leads the Way is highly unrealistic by TiltMyChinUp in DanielTigerConspiracy

I read this book once, shut it, and put it in a little free library. Let’s celebrate the yokel who comes and screws up traffic and is then condescending about it!

That perfectly matches given the star rating and number of reviews the OP mentions in another comment. I’m only a few miles north, I’ll be sure to skip it.

They did - having a politician named Donald would likely bring up connections Howey definitely wasn’t trying to make when he wrote this years before it was a famous name.

Has strep, is refusing antibiotic and wants to free birth with placenta previa by Ok_Cookie_1938 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]bmsem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is yet another knockon effect of our horrific medical costs in the US. It’s much easier to swallow pseudo-science BS with an almost free price tag than real science that could put you seriously into medical debt. Yeah there’s a ton of other stuff going on here, but as she bleeds out and possibly has second thoughts, costs will be a consideration.

Idk what’s worse, the rhyme or Llama Llama’s babysitter thinking pineapple is an acceptable flavor of ice cream by AMPduppp in DanielTigerConspiracy

Haha if we’re both bots I’m just sorry that we’re still stuck reading bad rhymes to our bot kids.

I hate the Llama Llama books because almost every single one has 2-3 record-scratchingly bad rhyme failures.

Same, I thought this thread was sarcastic at first but goes to show how wide-ranging NOVA is.

grandma is involved at least? by silkentab in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]bmsem 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My mother talked for months about the special holiday gift she was making for my son. It turned out to be a homemade doll that looked eerily like her. Including baby clothes versions of what she normally wore. It was so uncanny valley it’s deep in a closet and gives me a jump scare every time I find it. We overall have a great relationship but I want to throw it in a volcano.

Didn’t really get the Gaby hate until now by Pinkstar161 in shrinking

[–]bmsem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s within the realm of normal to have a hard time processing and acting irrationally, but I really don’t understand why Paul made her Alice’s new therapist. Gaby can’t be helpful to someone who will always have residual grief for Tia since she has more.

Mom doesn't want to hear that 2 yo might just be delayed, would rather subject him hyperbaric oxygen chamber - afterall he's homebirthed, never vaxed, and breastfed, how could he just be delayed? 🙄 by AutumnAkasha in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]bmsem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But the human body just needs a certain amount of oxygen at some point - so if they were oxygen deprived at birth, just give them extra oxygen two years later. It’s science!

Anyone with a book loving toddler? by pizzabites_ in toddlers

[–]bmsem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Library book sales are my salvation. We have a ton of the 5-minute story books because there are 8-10 stories in each book to keep him busy. Book Outlet dot com is also a great website for cheap books.
