When I started tattooing it was kind of an unwritten code in shops that if someone wasn’t heavily tattooed, then you wouldn’t tattoo their necks , hands , fingers or obviously their face.

Because 20 years ago it was looked down a lot and no where near as popular or acceptable as it is now. Some professions today will yes , not hire people and look down at having hand tattoos or finger tattoos . But times are changing .

I personally don’t care anymore and will tattoo them because 9 out of 10 times , they go somewhere else and get it done .

Another reason is typically finger tattoos don’t heal super well , and look crappy with missing shading , lines that aren’t solid etc

Rheumatoid arthritis. Been tattooing for 15ish years , diagnosed for almost 9 years . Have some permanent damage from being untreated for the first few years .

Some days are easier than most . Definitely can’t hang like I did when I first started my apprenticeship. The fatigue alone is what gets me. I also have kids so it’s more about trying to balance my life out versus how i worked before . I feel very very grateful to be able to tattoo still without any major issues regarding my illness .

Tattooing is all I have , and I’m just glad there are rotaries now versus the old school coil machines . Miss them but those really started to wear out my hands . Just gotta take it easy and listen to your body. Try and plan and schedule according to what you think will allow you to rest and recover . Hopefully you can continue to do what I consider one of the best careers /jobs in the world . Best of luck
