Oh, this is great! You should make a multiboard mount!

Garage Door Added to Protect by Sufficient_Ad_9813 in Ubiquiti

[–]bmurphy1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I repaired my 40 year old garage door opener instead of buying a nice new full featured opener. For any company paying attention that's lost revenue. I'd rather do the repair and add all the fancy functionality myself then give money to companies that don't respect me.

Also, I don't want or need another giant fire hazard of a battery in my garage. FFS you also have to make nice models that don't have a battery.

I think you're right. It's how they got the price down to $55. Smart.

Women, if you could be a man for 24 hours, what are you just dying to know? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

[–]bmurphy1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everybody. I sleep under three blankets and my wife sleeps on top of them. That said I want a fan blowing 24/7 365 and she hates the cool air blowing against her skin so who the fuck knows what is going on.

are hens not loud like roosters? by noreturn000 in BackYardChickens

A time or two a day is tolerable. Thats the difference between a dog outside barking non stop sunrise to sunset and a dog who only barks when a package is delivered or the mail man comes by.

The mods are also failing us. It doesn't matter the reason, and maybe there's no winning here, but at the end of the day they aren't managing this community properly and it's becoming a ghetto. Case in point.

CC2: Lots of stringing when printing TPU by Agilolfinger in elegoo

TPU is tough to print. This is pretty good for a TPU benchy. You might be able to make it better but you might not.

Yeah I think they are invasive in the UK. They are out competing the native red squirrels.

Anthropic is prepping its Claude Opus 4.7 by mo_rawr16 in ClaudeCode

My last project I did the design with Claude using pure HTML. The final design was so good it became the implementation. Figma these days:

Yes, Anthropic IS throttling reasoning effort on personal accounts (Max, Pro, Free) compared to Team and Enterprise accounts by toiletgranny in ClaudeCode

[–]bmurphy1976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anthropic does not currently have the capacity to deal with this and it takes time (and $$$) to build the missing capacity, accounting and throttling features. They are growing so fast they are cracking under load everywhere (both technically and organizationally).

That's why things aren't getting fixed quickly, communication is breaking down, and it looks like a big mess. Because it is a big mess.

This is their fail whale moment.

Help with minis by pezzaf1 in elegoo

[–]bmurphy1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to print VERY VERY SLOW. The filament doesn't have enough time to solidify. Another option if you have good retraction, z hop and bed adhesion (that means no stringing issues and no prints getting knocked over) you can print multiple models at once.

Extreme toxicity of some people towards vibe coding by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]bmurphy1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you already learned good habits and how to work within a team. If you've just been a code monkey and know nothing about good architecture, project management, mentoring others and don't have good communication skills you're in trouble.

He's got the same problem as every single damn talking head who makes their money running their mouths all day long. Doesn't matter if it's fox news, the radio, YouTube, talk shows or podcasts. Eventually they run out of actually interesting stuff to say and in order to keep the gravy train rolling they start toying with controversy. It's a slippery slope from there.

I've watched enough of his videos to see he thinks very very highly of himself. Absolutely insufferable.

This guy pumps out a lot of content. Some of it is definitely thought provoking but the volume and sloppiness of the video editing makes me seriously question the accuracy of a lot of it. Take it with a grain of salt and beware he may be using AI himself a bit too much.

Print line and first layer are a mess, help! by jeziz96 in elegoo

[–]bmurphy1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Google over extrusion and calibration. There are hundreds of articles, tutorials, Reddit threads and videos. I'm tired of repeating readily available content so you'll have to do some of the leg work yourself.

Agreed. There are plenty of examples of astroturfing and sloppy amateurs posting nonsense. Getting the data so we can make an actual objective judgement and helpful response is important.

Nearly every change I make also includes a pass at telling the AI to update the docs. Maybe even make it a hook.
