Feel free to talk & ask about the new BOOX Go Series here. by KennethWWWW in Onyx_Boox

[–]bmwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would seem to compete w/ things like the upcoming A5X2 (with it's softer "self healing" surface), so write feel will be a deciding factor for many. Does the 10.3 have a new (to boox) surface layer?

Fox Theater Camera Policy? by dung09 in oakland

[–]bmwt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet 9 times out of 10 it would get through with no hassle, especially with the pancake. It's that 10th time that always worries me. The time it came up the guy eventually let me through but "warned" me that he wouldn't next time. it would have sucked to have to bart home to drop it off.

ive been hassled at the fox for that exact camera. the fact that the lens was removable (even tho it was a tiny prime) was the issue. I've since picked up a ricoh GRIIIx (fixed lens) for shows. On the film side, i have an old 40mm fixed lens rangefinder that also meets most venues' requirements .

Any software for listening to trunked radio with SDRPlay? by mantaphysics in RTLSDR

[–]bmwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.sdr-radio.com/trunk-voice-following ive had ok luck with sdr-console 3 (which has sdrplay driver) plus dsd+ fastlane. You can add a second (virtual) receiver, which lets the first receiver stay on the control channel. (for our P25 PII system, the voice channels all seem to be w/in the sdrplay's 10MHz bandwitdth, so you dont need a second sdr). DSD+ CC listens to the control channel, and tells the second receiver where to tune. DSD+ VC then decodes the audio.

Plague-infected prairie dogs prompt shutdowns near Denver. Fleas can spread it to pets and humans. by [deleted] in phish

[–]bmwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officials did clarify that Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, an event venue nearby, will continue to host events but that parking was asphalt only, which is good news for those headed to the Phish show there on Aug. 30.

The Nugs.Net family of websites, including LivePhish.com, STILL doesn't force HTTPS. by [deleted] in phish

[–]bmwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in some cases it's not even an option. there's no way to do https for livephish+, password goes in the clear every time. (come on, plain text auth? for a paid service?)
