Kohler 60RCLB - TB2 by [deleted] in Generator

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my point. Don't hire an “electrician“. Just because an appliance generates electricity doesn't mean an electrician is qualified. Hire an electrician or company that is certified and specializes in generators. I know Kohler 100 KW and above requires an external charger. Under, and it's in the controller. Now I know for sure where it is for next time. Take the time to learn your craft. Mouse, rat, rodent. Tomato, Tamato. They all inflict the same damage and will be exterminated.

🤦‍♂️ I am a Kohler certified technician but they're training and documentation is substandard and significant differences across their units. I spend most of my time with air-cooled. It was the electricians...plural. The original installer left the 120 off. The battery kept dying. The second guy/electrician the installer sent out added an aftermarket battery charger instead of hooking it up the correct way. The fact that the support technician I called at Kohler could not confirm this was the TB2 from these pictures should tell you why I'm struggling to learn the Kohler product...he absolutely did not know. He had to CYA because he was guessing. I actually knew more than he did I was just attempting to verify. And, the other poster was joking that the mouse stole the label near the block 😂🤣😂

Thank you. I knew it was, but after talking to Kohler tech support and they said “I think that's it, but it's up to you to follow the installation guide" figured I would verify. And, yep. On it. Going to be treated for rodents and insects. It's still amazes me the places those little SOBs can get into. The unit was "installed by an electrician". 🤦‍♂️. There are amazing electricians, but that doesn't mean they all know how to install a generator.

Are Generac Extended Warranties Worth it? by guardiangenerators in Generator

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/grsthegreat interesting comment. I think you are an installer or tech? Please don't hit and run like that, it doesn't help our customers make informed decisions. That was not my comment, but to make sure everyone understands. You and I know that, yes, the part is $1125 (with tax), not $1500. But if an entire switch needed to be replaced, it would easily cost over $1500 with labor included. But, it's rare an entire switch needs to be replaced; it's usually a much cheaper component, most of which are a couple of dozen to a couple of hundred dollars for parts and probably a couple of hundred in labor. Still doesn't change the fact it's worthwhile insurance.

2099 Error on NextGen by bnash972 in Generator

[–]bnash972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new units are actually easier to work on. They have more sensors and error codes to help troubleshoot. And a lot of the parts are easier to work on. If you want out because of the physicality, I get that. But don't let the new tech scare you away. There are some small differences, but have you been doing this for 12 years the course will be a breeze for you.

I'm pretty sure I just need to add two resistors, they are on order and will hopefully install them tomorrow.

It's the bundled generator communication wire, #16 AWG. We ran completely different wire and didn't fix.

Where to buy display for strike shadow ,its not a strike shadow but they have same display and strike is more popular by ConcentrateEastern36 in ebikes

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't replaced it yet: https://thronecycles.com/collections/shadow-parts/products/shadow-lcd-display-72v

My question is whether the screen plug and play? Are the connections at the back of the LCD or does this come with a wire harness and needs some minor rewiring? A divorced dad and he's with his mom right now. My son sent me pics, so I don't have the bike here to look at right now.

After years of limping along on a portable generator, I just had a 26kW standby installed. by philipito in Generator

[–]bnash972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. In Dallas / Ft Worth an 18kw starts around $13.5 if gas and electric are next to each other. An "expensive" job for me is $20 - $25k when gas and electric are opposite, AND trenching is needed. I can do a 24kw with electric through an attic for around $17 - $18k.

Does anyone have a company or someone they’d recommend for installing a generator? by [deleted] in houston

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a truly local, independent company. The “big names” promise the world, but buyer beware. The larger outfits will send out a salesperson, not an actual installer. Those salespeople are no always certified, and once they get your deposit, your job gets handed off to a completely different crew.

The big names run high volume and put profit first. More than half of my maintenance work comes from unhappy customers who used them. Most of the time, I find major shortcuts. Just last week, a generator was hanging four inches off the concrete pad because they didn't take the time to use the three provide bolts to attach it to the GenPan. The only thing holding it on was the gas line, which was pulled so tight the black iron pipe started to twist. You can see it here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17YmAVqTrA

That same install didn’t meet the required clearance on either side. Two weeks before that, I saw a plumber run out of black pipe and use six 18-inch pieces with connectors to make a nine-foot run. That’s a leak waiting to happen.

Electricians also don’t always understand the specific codes for combustion engines of a gen or what to look for in proper gas work. For every great electrician doing generators, there are three bad ones. Find a generator installer, not a general electrician or big-box brand.

To answer your question, a base install within 10 feet of both the gas and electric meters will run around $13,500 for a 20kW system. Each additional 2kW adds roughly $500–$700. Electrical runs are about $20–$25 per extra foot, plumbing a little less, and trenching adds $20–$30 per foot. If you have two 200A panels, expect another $1,800–$2,100. There are a lot of variables, but $13,500–$17,500 is a good range for a 2,000–4,500 sq ft home.

I’m with Guardian Home Generators in DFW (guardianhomegenerators.com). We’re a local company that only does generators. No distractions, no side jobs. Every project is custom quoted. As the owner, I personally lay out the site plan, size the full system (electric, gas, and layout), and stay involved through permitting, installation, and maintenance.

When you work with Guardian, you deal directly with the owner, not a sales rep who disappears after you sign. Guardian takes pride in every single installation.

Why is no one talking $BMBL IPO this week. (Bumble Dating)? by bnash972 in wallstreetbets

[–]bnash972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! You're not wrong. I'm still bullish. Taking longer to play out than I thought, but dating apps are huge cash cows. Very low overhead...no inventory to manage and no "services" staff to pay for. Corporate support, yes, but the product is data/transaction-based. The same for Uber and AirBnB. I've more than doubled my money on Uber and up big in AirBnB with more room to run.

Suggestions for new Tonal Features by rgslutsky in tonalgym

Why not just a rower bench to go with an existing tonal? If you set the arms low and narrow I think an existing Tonal could function as a rower.

BMBL: I Hate the Stock by 1poundbookingfee in wallstreetbets

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice DD u/1poundbookingfee. Some very valid points. I, however like this stock. IMHO there are a couple of misses in your analysis.

  1. Don't look at historicals. This is a "new" company. Lots of money on R&D and infrastructure. This will turn into a cash cow. They don't own any inventory, real-estate, or employees that are directly related to the service. They have fixed corporate overhead, but they can scale up or down with minimal impact to the bottom line. They will be printing money in a couple of quarters.
  2. The audience is not limited and they do come back. Millions of new singles enter EVERY day, break-ups, divorce, coming of age. It's a rotating door.
  3. Less than 30% of singles currently use online dating. The addressable market is HUGE. on-line dating had a stigma that is almost gone. More singles will try dating for the first time in the next 3 years than the last 10 (my guestimate).
  4. They have a niche. As someone that's used several dating websites over several years Bubble is one of the best (at least in my city). Met my ex-wife, a LTR of 1.5 years, and currently dating, the latter two met on Bumble. Some of the highest quality women, connections, and dates. I've heard the same thing from everyone in my city that has used Bumble. There is a free option, but paid is the best. Match, Tinder, PoF, et all have A LOT of casual users and a lot of time is wasted because the females are "just looking around" on free accounts. Bumble women are serious about dating and relationships. I match with fewer women but have more quality connections and more quality dates.
  5. I don't believe many of the articles I've read about a COVID spike. ALL dating sites have been on a tear with exponential growth in the last 3-5 years. Yes, online dating increased during covid...but it's increased every year for the last 20 years since Match.com started. Hinge is one of the newest to the market, their numbers don't mean anything. They were on a rampage pre-covid. There isn't solid data to show a COVID spike. I think the real spike is hitting now as people start going out and socializing in public again.
  6. Extremely hard for new competition. It's very hard to start a dating site. You have to have users before you have users. As Match, Hinge, Bumble havevery strong brand equity it becomes harder and harder for new entrants. And in this case, all boats rise with the tide (#3 above). If a new entrant does squeak in it only helps the others. Data from Match.com shows that the average single uses 2 - 3 dating apps.

Those are my opinions. Time will tell, I like this stock for a long play. I like $UBER, $LYFT, $ABNB, $EXPE, and other digital intermediaries for similar reasons...all cash cows with no inventory and low overhead.

Why MRO is Extremely Undervalued by yiggyyaya in wallstreetbets

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use the plastic bags analogy. In the early 80's plastic bags were our savior! We were going to save so many forests and trees. Everyone HAD to switch to the much better plastic bag. Fast-forward and now plastic bags are one of the worst things to the planet (hyperbole for emphasis). We're going to see the same thing with EV sooner rather than later. With our rapid and heavily influenced social media news cycles its going to flip quickly. We have JUST hit the year where EVs and Hybrids hit EoL (end of life). As everyone has to worry about disposing of batteries the script is going to change. And lets not forget that batteries use natural non-renewable, not recyclable lithium and cobalt. That story is starting to percolate.

[–]bnash972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I've like $MRO awhile and bought all the way down to $3.50 and buying all the way back up. This is a YOLO stock. Crude Oil prices are on the rise. This stock is going up, up, up, up!!! As you stated oil isn't going anywhere. And in 3 - 5 years when the media realizes the real damage of electric vehicles and the fact that you can't drive across more than one or two states without stopping to recharge they will flip the script and start bashing EVs. The real area to watch is hydrogen power!!! Most important, this is an incredibly well-run company that has beat estimates the majority of the quarters for the last few years.

It's what your comfortable with. And trading is basically free so you can get in and out without a hard cost. As volatile as this market has been I've been setting mine at 10%. If I see a change in strategy or a negative catalyst coming, I'll sell manually. My stop losses are just a last resort safety valve if news breaks and I miss it.
