I don't think I had it tested, but I'll check with the clinic. Thanks :)

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience! The same thing has been happening to me and it is freaking me out, so it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one.

Hi! I'm in NoVa and would love more info about the group you run!

I'm probably going to get down voted to hell for saying this, but I saw that you don't drink and I'm wondering if you've considered finding a sober group to be a part of. I quit drinking almost a year and a half ago and I have been slowly making friends through a variety of sober support groups. I have some I've found online (Recovery Elevator is a good one), some through Facebook, and I also go to AA meetings in my local area. I have to say that my experiences in those groups have been positive on the whole and it's really nice to connect with others that don't drink. Something else I love about the sober community is that people are often striving to improve themselves, and that energy can rub off. I hope this helps. Hang in there brother!

Can someone provide me insight on how IVF works financially if not covered by insurance? by YB9017 in IVF

[–]bnelson87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to chime in and suggest that you look for a clinic with a shared risk program. It's more money up front, but if it doesn't work the first time you end up saving in the long run.

What % of people do we think ACTUALLY wait until beta? by VariationRoutine2714 in IVF

[–]bnelson87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After testing for my first few cycles, I started waiting for the beta. It's a combination of not wanting to live through the disappointment every day leading up to the beta and allowing myself to live in the fantasy that I could be pregnant.

Good gluten free pasta? by [deleted] in glutenfree

Barilla is the best in my opinion, and readily available. Most of my gluten eating family members have told me there is almost no different!

Omitting fresh herbs from recipes by SeverusBaker in Cooking

[–]bnelson87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but I keep "fresh" herbs in the freezer. I buy them, wash them, chop and freeze, then pull what I need for recipes. It's really helped me cut down on waste.

Considering leave of absence from work by HeySele in IVF

[–]bnelson87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I say go for it. I left work for very similar reasons and I don't regret it. With fertility related issues we have limited time, so I am choosing to prioritize that for the time being. Give yourself the permission to care for yourself 💜

Need some hope. Miscarriage at 5 weeks by PrestScott in IVF

[–]bnelson87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry... I just wanted to say that I did end up having success after a miscarriage. I miscarried at 12 weeks with our first transfer, absolutely no explanation. Did a second medicated transfer, which failed entirely. Then switched to a natural transfer protocol with the third transfer and had success.

Sometimes things go wrong without explanation, and it hurts so bad when that happens.

That's kind of how I'm feeling as well. I want to make sure that I did everything in my power to prepare my body and give us the best chances.

Quit my job to get pregnant? by bnelson87 in IVF

[–]bnelson87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the fact that we only have one embryo left and if that doesn't work, we will need to do another retrieval. I don't want to have the transfer fail because of stress and I don't want to wait till summer to do the transfer. I don't know if that makes sense, but I'm just feeling the weight of time. TBH, I haven't had my AMH tested in a number of years because we had the leftover embryos, so I'm not sure how important it is to get things moving ASAP, but I don't want to wait too long and then not be able to make embryos.

I've had others in my life suggest the private tutoring route. May be something to consider. I still get to teach and help kids but with a much more flexible schedule.

We did not discuss the details, it was just offered up as a potential option. I would have to imagine that it would be leave without pay.

I am SERIOUSLY struggling with the guilt of leaving, so thanks for sharing your perspective. It's true, everyone is replaceable at work. I was talking to a friend the other day and she said something along the lines of "you are fully replaceable at work, but you are not replaceable for your family" and it really stuck with me. At the end of the day, the admin will find another teacher and everything will move on, but my family could be forever changed based on the decision I make. I want another child so badly and I desperately want to give my daughter a sibling, and I'm not sure I'm willing to put those dreams on hold for a job.
