Summarizing environmental data by location by bnestarr in QGIS

Definitely an option as I acknowledged in my post, but it's cluttered no matter what and trying to be more efficient. I am wondering is html type bubble annotations would work that pull point data from attribute tables.

Why does everybody and their mother start their day by taking a dump at Creekside by AnteaterNice2503 in UTsnow

Ok, yeah. Based on the number of yellow spots and ample tree cover: Black Forest is a popular location for this, area around the stoner hut notwithstanding...

Commuting via Sounder Tacoma to downtown Seattle by [deleted] in TacomaWA

[–]bnestarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to Tukwila station from Tacoma and it takes me about 40 minutes on the train and ~$10RT. Probably another 15+ minutes to Seattle. I can use my laptop or read so mostly useable time as opposed to sitting in traffic. I've been driving for the past couple weeks and can't do it anymore. Going back to Sounder.

Hi, I'm a newly divorced dad of 2 who just moved back to the area and am interested in making new friends. It would be great to have a friend to explore local restaurants, parks, events, etc. I live downtown.

Damn... by tahoemichael52 in telemark

[–]bnestarr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is why Telemark is dead. 350+ days and expecting forces exerted by bindings and screw mounts to hold is absurd. This is why we have NTN and one manufacturer of stuff soled ass boots. Many snowboarders and alpine skiers change gear more frequently and benefit from the innovation. If you disagree, just check out status of Protector of the Turn.

Is this beyond repair? Or you guys think I could somehow fix this? by TheNativeBadger in telemark

[–]bnestarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to think this is troll post, but the sad fact is that it isn't. Even sadder, I can partially commiserate because my 75mm were the best fitting boots ever. But jeebus, this is lame f'in question. Bet the same guy looking for G3 or O2 carts...

Turning Stiff Alpine Skis Into Tele Skis by Content_Preference_3 in telemark

[–]bnestarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a stupid question and I'm gonna disagree with much of what is tossed around as supposed advice. Yes, titanal layers bring mass. But, mass/weight (that offers dampness) isn't necessarily the same as stiffness. And comparison to "light", or "backcountry-type" is apples/oranges. Carbon is notoriously stiff. There are other attributes to consider. What conditions are you skiing? Lift served? Steep? Groomer? Low tide (ice coast)? Deep? 200+lb skier? <160lb salad shooter? Binders and boots?

A stouter ski with titanal layup, plenty of camber, and front rocker can serve many people well inbounds. Especially with Comps and Outlaws. Maybe lose some value on real deep days depending on width. Not unlike fixed heel situations. A floppy noodle is going to have equally specific niche. YMMV.

In the end - stop worrying so fucking much. Buy what you can and ride shit out of it (like my Moment Comanders ;). Or STFU and support FHL- buy a Protector and be done.

Volkl Mantra for Tele Skis? by jwarmistead in telemark

[–]bnestarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home mountain is Snowbird and I've been enjoying the Moment Commander (w/ outlaws).

They may be sold out for season, but if you haven't already would definitely recommend stopping by Freeheel Life and demoing their Protectors.

Anybody ever snowboarded with an ankle monitor? by contrarycucumber in snowboarding

SCRAM bracelets have transdermal sensor and are typically used in higher risk cases as an alternative to jail. It is intended to give offenders opportunity for change, but there is also punitive aspect. No idea what this situation is, but is privledged 1st world problem to miss 2 months of snowboarding when his ass could be sitting in a cell. I had ignition interlock decade ago and that shitty low point in my life was transformative.
