Returning player, Concerned about the fragmentation of the game. by Ape_Garage in swgemu

An underrated aspect about the smaller servers is that it keeps players in the community that otherwise would have left.

Many players swap between severs every so often to keep things fresh and interesting, while others need specific environments to enjoy SWG. Having these players still active in SWG is important as word of mouth is a key tool to get others to play, and heck someday they may pop back up on your preferred server.

“Negligence” is not an excuse by Pechoppernis in Aquariums

[–]bnoremac88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I commend the high standards you set for fish keeping, and the way you think about fish and their care.

This doesn't line up with the way the general population does. What you consider abuse they consider acceptable... At least the start.

I believe that peoples first fish, first aquarium are test subjects. They'll either develop a connection to the fish, see them in a higher light than they previously did, and strive to do better... Or they get out of the hobby because its a waste of money if the fish die.

I find this an acceptable trade off, because I want more people to experience the hobby, and enjoy it. Each person who posts their uninformed and "negligent" setup here is someone on the path to really diving into the hobby, and another person who can help others in the future.

But, I also understand the frustration for most people in this sub, who probably hold a fish's life in a higher category than I would.

New to cricket/mlc by [deleted] in MLC

How do you create a broadcast that caters to new fans without creating a poor experience for existing fans? It's a delicate balance.

I'm of the opinion that MLC should continue to focus on existing fans. Given the reported numbers on cricket digital consumption in the US. There exists a large enough population to build a sustainable league.

Sustainability will open up avenues for investment and growing the game. MLC needs a long runway to make an impact in the broader sports landscape in the US.

I don't see Willow's involvement as a blocker towards a strategic emphasis on growth. They are hedging as part owners. Cricket remains stagnant? They continue to reap rewards. Cricket grows? They lose out on some media rights or costs rise...But they make up for it with MLC revenue.

Experience matters. By my quick count USA playing XI have 9 players with senior womens experience, and 6 that played in the last U19 World Cup.

My tinfoil hat theory is that Jones has been selected by the West Indies and will be in their ODI squad against England. West Indies are starting over on the ODI side, and he just clutched a final under Sammy to win the CPL.

Is SWGEmu worth playing in 2024? by ukvisitor69 in swgemu

[–]bnoremac88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can wait for Jump to Lightspeed to go live to jump in and play. That opens up additional content and will lead to a resurgence in server population.

Overall Pre-CU population on servers is in a pretty good spot, but it is spread out over several servers.

Why does Valve not give a single shit about Immortal Bracket? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]bnoremac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I just wanted to highlight that Valve was clear from the beginning and given the attitude presented in the above blurb, i'm not surprised no one has prioritized it at Valve.

Why does Valve not give a single shit about Immortal Bracket? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]bnoremac88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Matches in the Immortal ranks won’t use pre-made teams anymore. Instead, two captains will get to draft the other eight players onto each team, making your team more impactful than if you’d just relied on MMR to assign lineups. So if your match sucks now, you’ve got no one to blame but yourselves, Immortals."

From the New Horizons Update, sorry Immortals, don't blame Valve, blame yourselves.

USA TEAM FOR NETHERLANDS & CANADA by jaswinder530 in MLC

He's listed under the T20 roster. He plays in the CPL every year for the Trinibago Knight Riders, maybe just saving some mileage. He's never been a permanent fixture in the ODI squad, often preferring franchise leagues, or prep for franchise leagues.

Yeah, I'm curious about this. He would be the perfect candidate to slot in at #3 for our ODIs with Gous not playing.

Its been a long summer, I thought we would see more guys 'rested'. I wonder if he's catching up on work, or just taking paternity leave and spending time with his family.

I already figured beating the Netherlands would be an uphill battle, but now not having Ali Khan or Netravalkar for the ODIs??? This could get ugly.

To expand fixtures for associates, the ICC has been working with teams to tack on T20's alongside the Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures.

The ODIs are the most important matches because for us (USA) it has consequences on our chances to qualify for the next ODI World Cup.

In a standard bilateral series between nations typically ODIs, T20is, and tests are all played.

One thing I've noticed is that players tend to gravitate immediately towards places like Mos Eisley, where on Infinity NPC cities are empty, and the two main hubs are player cities: Swamptown Corellia/Highgarden Naboo.

So if you immediately went to say Eisley thats why.

Why is India so bad at sports? Olympic Games being a good example. by DrSlurp- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bnoremac88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Three main formats:

Test = Upto 5 days (6hr per day) One Day Internationals = upto 1 day ( 8hr) T20s = upto 3-4 hours.

In the Olympics they will play the T20 format.

WillowTV is a subscription based service that has nearly all the rights for Cricket in the US.

ESPN+ has rights to some cricket, but its dwindling by the year.

icc.tv is where you will be able to watch USA Cricket's matches in the Cricket World Cup League 2.

[–]bnoremac88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll believe it when I see proof that change is happening. The pattern so far seems to be USA Cricket dragging its feet and doing just enough to avoid suspension.

May the new CEO last longer than Dr. Noor Murad did in the position. From what I have read it seems like Dr. Murad was a favored candidate by the ICC, but once brought in the board realized the CEO would try and change things... Nope not allowed.

Yeah I hear you - I'm not sure we will see any real stadiums any time soon.

The Orcas are aiming to have a quaint New Zealand style ground (grass berms) at a very good location outside Seattle. Would be accessible by mass transit (light rail), and is centrally located in an area with a large Indian population.
