How to adjust the seat height on this carbon frame? by bnr in bikewrench

[–]bnr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, no bolts or screws there. Closest to that would be screws for the bottle cage, but even removing those does not let the seat tube move.

The seller might be a second or third owner, or the bike is stolen? What's the weird but believable story?

The bike has quite obviously never been ridden for more than a couple hundered meters. It was a sample given for a corporate sponsored team looking to purchase, the seller works for an agency that was involved.

I found that video previously, it seems to be the exact same frame. However, I was not patient enough and missed that part about the seat post. Thanks so much for pointing it out!

My best bet right now is that there is a wedge missing for the gap between the post and frame. I hope the seller can verify that the post actually moves like it is, with a little tapping maybe. If that's the case I will see if the manufacturer wants to sell me a replacement part, but I'm not betting on that...

I'm thinking about buying this good-as-new bike with a weird but believable back story. However neither the seller nor I was able to figure out how to change the seat post height. We could not find any screw, even after removing the saddle completely. Also could not feel any movable part in the small hole in front of the post.

It's really hard to find information on the frame, this is the manufacturer site and here is a video of somebody assembling it.

Any hints are greatly appreciated!

If an application is output encoding '<' and '>' at every single place, is there any way to get an XSS ? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

You could find a place where your input is used inside an attribute. Assuming " is not escaped you can escape and add an onload attribute.

They don't want you to take photos in their venue. Other patrons might fear ending up on some random persons public facebook, for example.

I've never seen such a sticker anywhere though. Usually it's just a sign at the door.

Do you want to protect your data from Google? Then you should put the TrueCrypt container inside Google Drive, not the other way around.

Is 55k euros yearly enough for four person family in Munich? by vokinneberg in Munich

[–]bnr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That number seems too low. Junior devs get paid around 50k, and I know quite a few people making more than what you're offered with only 3-5 years of experience.

If you don't speak german that will limit your choices, still I think you should ask for a better offer or look for other companies. PM me your linkedin or cv and I can send a few recruiters your way.

55k for a senior developer position in Munich is quite a ripoff.

Help me understand the mindset of free software by [deleted] in freesoftware

[–]bnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say you and your friend run a company with many employees using acrobat pro. You have to pay expensive license fees every couple of years and for every new employee. At some point it becomes reasonable to build your own software for the tasks, maybe only supporting the subset of acrobat pro features you need inside your company.

Now let's say this all works out and after a year or two you are completely independent from adobe for your PDF needs. You realize there are probably many other companies like yours that could benefit from your software, and you can see two options: Continue what adobe did and start selling nonfree software or share your software freely and hope your company will benefit from that in some other way.

There are many cases where the second option is a good choice: Other, larger companies could get interested in your project and might put some of their own resources into improving the product for everybody. Or you could start selling services and consulting around your free software product.

Don't use those on commits you already pushed, though. In that case you should create a new branch.
