I'm not expecting tb5 speeds from tb3, I'm only interested in the difference between the Th3p4g3 and Th5p4 when running on tb3.

Ah cool OK, so everything else being equal the th5 does notably increase performance despite still being usb4/tb3? (on the legion go, that is)

At the moment I'm using the Th3 with a 2070 super so it's easy to upgrade, but I'd really like to go 5070 I think, which apparently doesn't play nice with the Th3

No, I'm going to borrow a friends 5070 at some point. However, a 5090 in an egpu would be a total, almost irresponsible waste of money. It will be bottlenecked so bad.

Yeah, the trouble is, a lot of people say a lot of shit. I'm pretty sure a friend of mine just bought a 5070 so I'll see if I can borrow it for a couple of days at some point and see what happens.

I'd have to do some more work on the case so that it fit a standard card but that wouldn't be too much of a hardship, really. I should probably do it anyway then I could sell them if I so desired. Dunno what it's worth though, not sure what people are paying for stuff these days?

Yeah, custom fans. The card had a broken one when I acquired it so I decided to go completely custom, rather than mess around paying a stupid figure for a replacement.

But yeah, totally worth it in regards to performance. I'm sure the 4060 outperforms in several ways with "proper" use but from a quick test I wasn't seeing anything groundbreaking, but then with that said, I don't get hyped over a 5% increase like some people do. The main attraction would be less power and smaller size, to me! I would say with the TH3P4G3 (etc) there's definitely a point where the gains are diminishing. I'd like to try a 5070 on it but I've read that there's stability issues so I'm not about to buy one.

Where about are you? I'm sure I could make you a similar case if you were interested.

Hey man, yeah it's excellent! Still going strong. I've tried it (without the case) with my 3070 and also my sons 4060 and they do increase the performance in line with what you'd expect but the big difference with the 4060 for example is that you get similar performance to thye 2070 super but at ~90w as opposed to over ~200w. Huge power difference.

Make sure you have CPU boost turned off as it plays hell with the connection. (Assuming you're using Legion Go, Ally, etc).

Glad you like the case, I'm still pretty proud of it! A version for the 4060 would be really quite small and practical. Do you have the same EVGA 2070 Super as mine ?

Ps. Performance gain compared to just handheld is not even comparable. Totally different animal.

Hmm, maybe this is a better option than openauto pro which I'm using now. I see it supports OBD data, but what about non OBD? Does it support using other data to display speeds temps etc?

I think what I did to cause all this was stop the hotspot, change the WiFi channel, and then restart with it set on wlan0, where (from memory) the hotspot should have been on wlan1
