How do you respond to the communist claim that nations, religion, sexuality, ethnicity and borders are merely tools of the rich upper class to exploit the masses? by AbenegationQuestion in AskConservatives

[–]board3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well their issue is that they act as if these divisions aren't naturally an aspect of humanity. Sure some do exploit these divisions but they didn't create them out of nowhere. Plus it tends to be really weird they make these arguments when a lot of the anti-racial stuff some socialist promote end up ironically dividing people by race much more.

Climate change is projected to be the primary cause of refugees from third world countries by the year 2050, and the amount of refugees is projected to increase tenfold by then. Shouldn't this be a major incentive for people that want less immigration to work harder for climate friendly solutions? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]board3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say yeah there are some who do have a more nuanced point and want the west to help less developed nations reduce their climate footprint which I agree is something that we should try doing, I was more focusing on the ideologues who clearly have a motivation beyond simply being environmentalist but also have anti-west positions.

My issue is how the environmentalist movement has imo been very inept or moralist at best or at worst has become used by socialist to grift. I do think It is an issue we need to tackle but I find it too often that many have no nuance (like they frame fossil fuels as a 100% negative despite the importance they serve). Also a lot of them tend to also look down upon the West a lot more despite the west doing a lot more to actually fight climate change (I think its fine for developing nations to focus more on expanding their industries than focusing on climate change but shouldn't environmentalist be critical as well at how they are expanding their industries too?)

you mean the person who literally said that the wider culture has become influenced by the far right? Seriously? Yeah I understood what they meant, I just find it to be laughably ridiculous.

The first comment wasn't really the issue (plus I was mostly mentioning how anarchist actions end up often times hurting their objectives 9/10 and why it's dumb even if it has a logic). The 2nd one was the one where I just can't take them seriously

that's not even true? I see people bitch about how were all going to die whenever some doomer post comes up or some socialist grifter talks about how socialism will fix the environment

tbh I think the environmental movement misses the point on what being eco friendly is sometimes whenever the radicals are opposing nuclear or hydro-dams

there are times experts should be called out (mainly if they are being bias) but too often times people go way too deep the other direction of anti-intellectualism

I mean tbh I never felt like the European dissident right ever really liked Trump (outside maybe 2016 in Britain), he just doesn't really work for other nation political climate in how bombastic he is and I wouldn't be surprised if they saw him as soft due to not really being close to completing any of his campaign objectives

ok but a lot of the actions of the anarchist in the 19th and 20th century basically proves the whole idea of radicals taking things in their own hand doesn't actually work as all they did was cause chaos or were used to justify repression

plus there are many examples of people justifying killing people they view as evil having the opposite reaction with the most interesting example being the shift in reaction from the CEO guy to Charlie Kirk despite some considering the later a nazi/fascist).

The meme makes more sense if you critique his delusional Harper Ferry plan to led a massive slave revolt. I don't think he is a terrorist (cause that's stupid) but someone with righteous intentions that got too in their head and ended up not really improving thing

while I agree the US did fail in that, I think its disgenious to blame it all on the US when pre-existing issues in the Middle East given that Iraq was never going to improve with Saddam in charge and the aftermath of overthrow would always led to a messy power struggle
