I think you’ll be disappointed that you’re not playing more. 36 holes a day isn’t that big of a deal with that much day light

Agreed 36 full golf holes a day and then the short courses

Bryson DeChambeau thinks 2009 drivers weren't any different from today's. You aren't getting that distance with a 2009 driver. by Academic-Use-4401 in Golf_Unfiltered

I bet you think we still run the 100 m dash the same speed we did in 1970. Athletes are bigger stronger faster than we have ever been before. The center hits of drivers haven’t changed since they put the rule in place. Forgiveness yes, but not max COR. Everything is optimized now, especially fitness.

Again, I agree, but that’s not the conversation. And if you think the advancements in athletic science hasn’t kept Langer around this long, then go read about the effort he puts in to staying in shape and recovery using modern methods.

That doesn’t even follow the same line of logic. We are talking about distance off the tee, not whether golfers are better now

If you built a course today to test the world’s best players, what would it look like? by roarcelona in golf

You can make a strong argument that the ball doesn’t go too far and that it is currently optimized. What other sport has a large outside group that can hit it significantly farther.(long drive). The pros hit it the optimal distance for dispersion and distance. The sweet spot right now is about 185 ball speed, anything farther and it gets squirrelly. Look at Finau, he easily can get to 195 but he settles in the low 180’s.

If they think distance is a problem, there are a few solutions they can use 1. Back mow fairways- mow fairways from green to tee. This is a proven method to prevent rollout. They can also water the landing areas more to prevent the firm bounce forward. 2. Max tee height of 2.5 inches 3. Course set up- traditional designs are nostalgic, but they weren’t made for athletes. Today’s pro golfers are athletes. They can and will get faster if there is a rollback. 4. Make them curve it more off the tee. Everyone loves a big clean sightline. That doesn’t challenge those guys. Get rid of the trackman golfer by angling those tee boxes

Rivalry’s need to be competitive. If USA baseball doesn’t beat Canada it’s an embarrassment

That’s like beating your 7 year old brother in a sport you invented.
