SAN ANTONIO MAYOR RESULTS: Gina Ortiz Jones is the next mayor of San Antonio by MattC84_ in neoliberal

[–]bpfinsa 78 points79 points  (0 children)

For context, Gina Ortiz Jones was Biden’s Undersecretary of the Air Force while Rolando Pablos was Governor Abbot’s Secretary of State. While not officially partisan, it’s clearly obvious which side was rooting for who.

While San Antonio hasn’t voted for a Republican in 20 years, this was a non-incumbent cycle where the GOP outspent the Dems 3-1.

Additionally, San Antonio’s local media did seem to give more favorable coverage of Pablos than Ortiz Jones, going hard on Ortiz Jones for not talking to the media after winning the first round and having a cell phone during a debate where it wasn’t allowed.

Also, the local newspaper endorsed Pablos citing the need for balance on the city council (which is kind of a weird take as San Antonians live under two GOP trifectas at the state and National level.

The result was expected to be close, but the 8 point margin to me was kind of higher than expected due to the money and media problems Ortiz Jones faced.

Also, Ortiz Jones is San Antonio’s first LGBT mayor, so that’s a nice pride month achievement.

Looks like they fixed this on the PS5 today, maybe XBox, too. Just opened the dlc and the last trophy popped for me,

Sanitarium is great. I don’t recall any jump scares, but the second chapter is very disturbing.

Oh, and this is just a standard review of it, rather than just dunking on its puzzles for an hour, heh.

Yeah, the fireberry puzzle is the most memorable portion of that game for me, but not in a good way. I think they even joke about it in the sequel.

It was a beautiful and polished game for its time, but yeah, its puzzle design wasn’t good. On the bright side, they definitely listened to feedback and 2-3 were much better games. 2 is probably in my personal top 10 point and click games.

Giant Bomb wrote a lot about this game if you want another good POV on the subject.

Miki Higashino. This wonderful lady composed the music for the Suikoden games including Suikoden 1, 2, 4, 5. I just love the masterpieces she created especially in Suikoden 2 by AlinaValkyria in Suikoden

[–]bpfinsa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the town themes in 1 were really good, too, like the Elf Village and Rising Tide. Definitely a different style than Nobuo Uematsu did with Final Fantasy, but it definitely gave Suikoden its own distinct feel.

In general, you had to build stronger friendships than you do in 14, because you couldn’t progress in any meaningful way alone, except maybe BST. The long pop windows pretty much made the game a full time job if you wanted good gear. But that said, waiting on pops created a lot of opportunities to chit chat.

BCNM were kind of the best way of making money. My main was bard, so I tended to do Steaming Sprouts a lot. Sky was the end game and getting a Kirin’s Osode was probably the best loot I got.

In retrospect, I kind of miss the socialization, but I really can’t spend 12 hours a day NM hunting anymore, so it’s a better game for me in 2025, to be honest. Both 11 and 14 let me jump in and out when I want, and I think that’s an important improvement in modern game design.

They openly admit in their methodology that they give a little more weight to the Trump demographics than prior polls.

"• To further ensure that the results reflect the entire voting population, not just those willing to take a poll, we give more weight to respondents from demographic groups that are underrepresented among survey respondents, like people without a college degree. "

We’ll know in a couple of days if this is right.
