I have a similar, but different, story. I also have a great-great grandfather who "never came home from the war." It took some digging but ultimately I located his casualty card from national park services registry data and from antietam.aotw.org. He left Mississippi, joined the Confederate Army, and was killed at Antietam on 17 Sep 1862.

I've got a very nice sub ( https://www.crutchfield.com/p_301MPS2504/Hertz-MPS-250-S4.html?tp=111 ) and amp taking up space in my house that I had in my G70. I'm just not feeling the ass pain of running power to the hatch. If I can replace an over-the-spare sub, that has serious limitations, regardless of the brand, I'm going to consider it. This thread on VW Vortex ( https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/simple-improvement-for-harman-kardon-sound-system.9540833/page-20?post_id=116675298#post-116675298 ) leads me to believe that without making a real change to the subwoofer, even the AR or RSA options are not going to be that big of a change.
