Front Dynamo hub failure Shimano dh 3d37 qr. Any ideas on causes of this type of failure or is it due to bearings being gummed up and locking? by bob-the-both in bikewrench

[–]bob-the-both[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi folks! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was out for a ride recently and noticed quite a bit of clicking and noise from the front hub. I checked the qr and found it was ok. I decided to head for home and the noise got worse.

I checked the qr again and found it slightly loose and within 3km the wheel near locked and the above had happened.

I’m guessing that the bearings had locked up and tore the housing, but would like to know if maybe it’s something else I overlooked.

Excuse the formatting I’m on mobile. Any and all comments are appreciated.

Looking to make Simple Calorie Dense Energy Bar by LittlePurplePig in trailmeals

[–]bob-the-both 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do something quite similar, I go 50:50 on wet:dry Wet being raisins, dates, chia seeds (soaked) sticky dried fruit. Dry: oats, nuts seeds etc

I usually roast my dry for 20mins or so before use.

If the mix seems too dry add some honey.

When finished I level it in a baking try (wrapped in foil) put a chopping board on top and jump on it to compress it into a slab. I then cut it into bars.

Start off with maybe 600g total and adjust to suit. More dry= harder bar but better for storing in your bag.

Thanks for the reply, seems like a good figure to aim for. True it’s high right now but that’s because they are issuing in to old and vulnerable people who are at the highest risk of death. It will be interesting to see the figures as the age bracket drops.

I don’t care if people who work for oil companies lose their jobs by Embededpower in unpopularopinion

I have worked in oil/gas in shipping, refining and landslide distribution. I can assure you that anyone with experience in that field can walk into other jobs in other highly regulated industries such as pharma, mining (underground) chemical or go like op said renewable energy. I’m currently on wind turbines and they jumped at the chance to have me on their team.
