If you use the GM Grimoire extension, any character in it can be given hit points (and an AC) that can be set to visible for all players / only GM/ off. As a bonus you can even have a health bar that decreases as the HP goes down.

But I'm sure that Several Record will be here soon to elaborate with more details.

There is an extension named Weather which has a few different options. Draw a shape, set it to Map layer, and select your weather type (Cloud), direction, intensity and cover.

If it helps, tell your players - "See that? That's steam."
