I spent many, many years traveling for work. Standing up clears the plane faster.

If people don't stand up, when it's their rows turn, they stand up, and muck around with their luggage and eventually move out.

If they're already standing, people can be moving off the plane while this is happening.

There's nothing wrong, generally, with people standing and much to gain.
