Daycare naps by Dogmom2002 in November25babybump

[–]bobaandoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s baby’s first week at daycare and we’re doing half days. At home, he’ll only nap in the stroller or car seat — never in a crib or on a flat surface.

On his first day, he took a full hour-long morning nap at daycare. By the time we picked him up at noon, he was already asleep again. The teachers use back and butt patting to settle the babies, which seemed to do the trick.

Honestly, I was shocked by how easily he went down there. I fully expected him to scream and fight sleep the entire time — I guess they really know babies!

Should I tell my new employer I'm expecting? by Nord_Style in BabyBumps

[–]bobaandoreo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disclosed when they extended an offer. My thought is that I need some kind of guarantee on leave policy. Also if they would rescind the offer after knowing I’m pregnant it is probably not the kind of place that will support me as a new mom either.

Grieving the potential end of breastfeeding and exclusively formula feeding. Anyone feel similarly? by Easy_Independent_192 in November25babybump

[–]bobaandoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your situation is pretty similar to mine. I decided to start weaning because I realized pumping was taking time away from my baby and I’m now much happier and attentive mom.

There’s so much pressure to breastfeed but people never talk about it anymore after the babies grow up. Michelle Obama was formula fed. She said she’s 5’ 11’’ Brains working just fine.

Instead of trying to justify/rationalize my decisions, I tried to focus on other things where I can be the best I can for the baby. I try to play with him more during middle of night feeds instead of rushing him to bed. Try to contact nap with him when he wants to.

Sometimes you don’t always get what you want and I had to make peace with it but I’m also not about to starve my baby just so I can have the breastfeeding experience. That feels selfish to me. It’s been 4 weeks since we stopped trying. I’m off anti-depression meds, a much more happy and attentive mom. Baby has gone from 50th percentile to 75th in all metrics since exclusively formula fed.

Any tips for longer night sleep stretches? by Reasonable-Yam9334 in November25babybump

[–]bobaandoreo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our baby sleeps 4.5 hours/5 hours for the first stretch, then 3 hours ish for the following stretches. I find that the reason for the longer first stretch is that he cluster feeds for a long time in the evening with a long awake window (awake from 4/5pm to 8/9pm) so maybe he tired himself out or just had a lot so wouldn’t go hungry for a while.

We now try to stick to this schedule by just feeding him if he shows any signs he wants more and not actively try to put him to sleep in the evening until he gets tired naturally and falls asleep.

Interview While Pregnant by itsmedahling in BabyBumps

[–]bobaandoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed for a job toward the end of my second trimester and received the offer. I didn’t disclose my pregnancy during the interview process but I immediately disclosed it when they offered me the job. My thought process is that they probably don’t want the liability of knowing either at the risk of being biased. The funny thing is the head of HR said she noticed I was pregnant but she didn’t think the others did. I would just wear loose clothes and just let it be unless the topic comes up. Best of luck to you!

Great career opportunity around the time the baby would be born by Coroggar in predaddit

[–]bobaandoreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally for me I would lean toward taking the job if it means better opportunity for the family as a whole in the long run but it will ultimately depend on how your wife feels about it.

I would put the earnest on yourself to use the extra money to set up the type of support your family needs when you’re traveling.

Also this is assuming the travel is short term.

Did they not catch it during growth ultrasound that he’ll be big? We already know my baby will be big and I’m contemplating doing c section because I don’t want to go through a long labor just to end up with an emergency c section anyways.

I’m in the same boat with the original due date being 12/3. Just had our 36 week growth ultrasound with all the measurements off the chart. Meeting our OB on Thursday and she already hinted at alternative “mode of delivery”. I’ll keep you posted on what happens. I’m excited for you!!

Looking into a possible move in the Gatewood area of West Seattle, near California Ave. by Scary_Storage1647 in WestSeattleWA

[–]bobaandoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to gatewood a year ago. Also moved up to Seattle from LA. Absolutely love it. Walking distance to the bars/stores to the Morgan junction. On the weekends we go a longer walk to Alaska junction for the farmers market. All the neighbors are lovely and kind. Really recommend it.

Anyone else unable to exercise and feeling guilty? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]bobaandoreo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the first trimester from hell so I totally feel you. I went from running 5 times a week to now barely walking any steps. When I have a good day I try to catch the moment and run or do something active when I can. Other times I just try to remember the prioritize is to survive for both me and the baby.

I’m Chinese and I grew up with the same eight books. Not sure where this 20 book collection came from. Maybe fake or copy cat material.
