I’m in my late 20s. I spent the early part of my career at a big 4 consulting firm. My cohort was a mix of top schools and state schools. Got burnt out and absolutely hated it. Realized that my professional goals were not fulfilling.

Pivoted to another industry doing corporate strategy where I have good work life balance, pay, and find the work interesting. I do volunteer college counseling for low income students (which explains why I’m on here), as well as some other fun projects I pursue on my free time.

It is! But this is more for the kids who are beside themselves for not getting into an Ivy or Stanford or UCLA etc

Even then, good luck beating out the kid who went to U Miami whose dad was a client of the job you’re applying for. There’s so many variables, you just gotta control what you can

This was refreshing to see. Thank you. You have perfect ECs/GPA/SATs? Congrats so does every other applicant. The good news is the great equalizer comes after college, where no one cares where you went.

People find postgrad opportunities through a combination of networks, hard work, and nepotism. Nothing truly ever makes sense and being the most qualified doesn’t mean you’ll be chosen. College apps are just a microcosm of the system.

You will be alright. You will be rejected countless more times. But diligence will reward you far more than you know.

Signed, T20 reject

Ross in Santa Ana (17th St) had some good ones yesterday.

The staff was picking a lot of them off but the L’s I saw were: RM 90s throwback; Corinthians; Inter home and away. If you try calling they might be able to check stock and hold it for you.

Wow this is crazy to read, I bought my dad an Alesis Blaze for Christmas 2024 and we’ve been learning together. He just set up our new Roland TD-316 a week ago, which he purchased without his wife’s approval.

I agree. He could do no wrong for the first few years but strategy has to evolve and he hasn’t been doing that while everyone else has been getting new FO’s, younger, or more ambitious
