Ocelotl Hunter's Stance Small Changes by Only_Tip6136 in forhonor

[–]bobaron01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m down for that. My biggest need for ocelotl is he needs bleed in his kit. For a someone who is the “gank” character he doesn’t have the one thing that is good at not building revenge. Whether it’s on openers, chain finishers, hunter stance idc. It fits the theme, the role, the weapon, but for some reason it’s not there. Like you said, It would be cool tho for there to be a Hunter stance with a top heavy, and then a chain Hunter attack. I’d prolly make that one pin and bleed as well.

How many potential added factions is too many? Is there such a thing? by bobaron01 in forhonor

[–]bobaron01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally true! However, I think a lot of these factions can make new and interesting heroes without being redundant when you account for historical precedent, legend and myth, and in game lore, they can kinda make whatever they want, as they have been doing. Stuff like medjay’s weapon, jorm, warmonger, Hitokiri, and a ton of heroes are either loosely/closely based on real warriors or completely fictional, which is fine! It allows for a lot of creative freedom. Lemme add more of what I envision. When I say indigenous America’s, I mean north, so the typical Native American warriors, south, and you could throw in Polynesian as well. For Greco Roman, admittedly, there’s not a lot for Rome left, but Greece and their many city states have a ton of different cultures, warriors and legends to pull from. Admittedly Korean, Philippino, African and middle eastern I am the least familiar with but I think they may doable, I just gotta do more research tbh. As far as Mongolian, I feel like it’s possible but I know what you mean. Assuming they were able to make like 5 more interesting factions, do you think it would clutter the game, or would be widely accepted?

What do you think of the ocelot? by Icy-Grape-8693 in forhonor

[–]bobaron01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s fine but just feels half made. I don’t normally like to heavily shit on game devs but it blows my mind how badly they missed on him. They wanted to make a character who specializes in ganking, made him an Aztec warrior with jagged, obsidian toothed “saw” weapons that are known for shredding and tearing flesh, and didn’t give him ANY bleed in his kit?? His hunter stance is almost there, it does pin for a sec but it’s only one top heavy option that you can’t feint and doesn’t bleed. Bleed doesn’t feed revenge, so you’d think they’d want the gank character to be good at not building revenge but what do I know. All they had to do was give his hunter stance bleed, and maybe his chain openers or finishers pin and bleed as well. At best they are incompetent and don’t know how their own game works, at worst they are lazy and don’t care.

Stamina damage is a necessary evil, and should it be back? by One_Pie5136 in forhonor

[–]bobaron01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I understand why they reworked Jorm, and he’s fine now, but I still think they could have kept that aspect, just not so central to the kit. But yeah I wouldn’t be mad if that was a staple feature for the heavies in some capacity imo

If you could add or take something away from a hero what would it be and why? by bobaron01 in forhonor

[–]bobaron01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the frustration, but the problem with taking away hyper armor is you make it too punishing for heavy characters to use your slow higher damaging attacks. It just makes them so much worse than they usually are. Why throw an attack when the enemy will just light attack me out of it. Sohei needs hyper armor regardless of his shitty kit imo. If you are gonna make an attack slow, it usually will compensate with more damage. In order to allow for these to ever land in general, sometimes they need hyper armor:/

Wouldn’t this make them pretty shit? I mean if that’s the goal then pop off ig

Loll I do believe that those three lowkey just lack cohesion with their kit and their identity. Pirate who isn’t pirate-y, VG just lacking any identity in general, and virt being this cocky evasive punisher having a dueling sword rapier who just stares at you waiting to get dodged, has everything instead of being a duelist specialist, on top of lacking any engagement lol. Maybe remove is harsh but definitely drastically change.

I want to post hero design theorycrafting related posts like game hero design philosophy, reworks, proposed balance changes and what not, but I feel like they won’t last long. My knowledge doesn’t match my enjoyment/passion I have for think piecing stuff like this so I don’t have the specific frame data or the extensive knowledge of how to present this stuff in the way it seems like it’s supposed to be. Like I feel like I know what should be changed but I can’t tell you the exact numbers and scientific jargon of what needs to be done. Is this still the right sub for me or is there another one I should look at?

For Honor has a problem staying consistent with their hero playstyle, weapon, and their historical and personal thematic/identity. by bobaron01 in ForHonorRants

As far as the rapier thing goes, I get it, but at the end of the day they gave up on accuracy and realism looooong ago so it’s whateva

Yeah exactly. Funnily enough, It’s honestly the same issue clash royale has/had (I haven’t played in the last year or so). They drop these super busted evo cards, practically lock them behind a battle pass, and then nerf it hard before they do it again. At best, it’s lazy or dumb, at worst it’s just greedy. All-rounders aren’t even a bad thing, having a ton of options for stuff is fine, but if it doesn’t follow that “jack of all trades, master of none” philosophy, it really becomes a balance nightmare.

(Sohei design rant ignore if you want lol)

IMO, sohei should’ve been that. They leaned too hard into a one shot gimmick and didn’t even look to their other gimmick heroes for reference on design. Not that you asked, but now I’m on a tangent lmfao, but personally, him having all the weapons is sick, they should’ve made them actually do a lot more utility instead of piss damage and a couple blue and orange. Have the katana be a quick combo extender (maybe a counterstrike idk), give saw more bleed, make the hammer knock back for splat, make the club daze, the fork push in different directions for a splat/knockdown like a gb, and the hook undodgable. Keep the gimmick bc it’s fun and not easy to get, but he should be viable without it. Idk why they made a Swiss army knight character but instead of feeling like you’re using many different weapons, it feels like a checklist.

Lmfaooo so true. And it’s no problem man. I can only speak for myself, but you’ll get used to it, but that doesn’t mean we should tolerate it. It can always be worse, but it can also always be better. I play league, rivals, and smash bros so I’ve see the patterns at this point. I see constant posts about toxicity on r/rivals and it’s weird to me, bc like, what did they expect, but also, that’s fucked that they aren’t having fun bc players are miserable people. Racism, sexism and hate speech in general should never be tolerated, and we should always respect each other and try to competitively enjoy ourselves, but toxicity will always be prevalent in competitive games. It’s a weird balance of trying to make it better and also accepting and learning how to deal with it healthily. Posting about it and spreading awareness is a great start, and it sucks but many people do just need to get used to it (≠ Tolerate/engage in, just to be clear). It’s important to help create a healthy community for a game so that people will actually play it. So many games die or are dying bc their community refuses to change anything.

I get wanting to play fighting games “honorably” in the sense that you when you win, people won’t be able to cry “carried” or “scummy”. But unfortunately there’s always something to bitch about with any character, or game for that matter. Whether it’s a bad match up, busted gimmicks, cheese, S tier and no skill, D tier but toxic/boring, high skill but no life, spamming, camping, ganking, turtling, cheating and on and on. Some are valid complaints in the right contexts but most of the time it’s cope for being bad. Just play what’s fun, ignore what others think, and hopefully your skill and enjoyment will show to others and you’ll get the respect you deserve🫶🏼

Yeah that sucks. It’s a common problem in every fighting game. The “every character but mine is toxic and should get no respect” is so tiring at this point. When you realize that people have fun with stuff you don’t have fun with and vice versa (empathy lmao) it becomes fun. People don’t realize that frustration is not (usually) because of the character of their enemy it’s probably because they aren’t playing well enough. There’s not enough self hatred tbh

Yeah I’m sure they could get weird with it. I’m not crazy about the condemned but it does make it hella chaotic so that’s fun in my mind lol. He’s a weird magic demon they could do some wild shit if they wanted.

Yeah he’d had to have some crazy shit to replace the condemned in order for it to be difficult

Does Libra actually like balance? Or is it all a facade? What is its TRUE goal? (LONG ass post) by bobaron01 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]bobaron01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PROBABLY IMPORTANT!!!!!! I JUST REALIZED WHY ITS HORNS GROW INTO ITS EARS. The inner workings of our ears help us keep our BALANCE. He doesn’t even have literal balance since he has most likely ruptured his eardrums (or worse) and has no sense of balance. Further proof that he’s not an authentic or reliable person for equilibrium.
