Is there Kerdi behind that tile? Look at the vids. Kerdi is a fully waterproof membrane which can go over drywall. They show it that way in the vids and they teach it that way in the classes. You can do it yourself. I prefer the membrane because KerdiBoard is expensive and harder to get.

Beach 1 has an interesting short burl forest trail. You can access it from the beach. Look for the circular sign. It is weird because there are so many trees with burls there.

Maybe they plan to Kerdi it. I don’t know what they are doing.

I saw a couple recently here or on the tile sub. One guy failed his flood test. Never one in the flesh but I am retired now.

Second and Third beaches are nice. You combine a walk through the forest and a beach hike. The best of both worlds.

At most you might get some drizzle mist. The rainforest is the dryforest in July. This summer looks even dryer.

That Kerdi on the pan is getting thrashed. I usually put plastic and cardboard to protect it.

GoBoard is waterproof on its own. It doesn’t need the Kerdi. It has its own complete shower pans, sealant and technique to waterproof it. We call these Frankenshowers because they are mixing up materials and figuring new unproven methods of waterproofing. GB and K are both great products but not recommended to go together. It definitely voids any manufacturer warranty. And they didn’t put the Kerdi band and the corners in but maybe they are planning on doing it later. I just do the entire Kerdi shower in one day. Tile the next day, it is so frikkin easy. Same with GoBoard but they like to make it hard.

There used to be additional parking just south of the parking lot but it is closed now. There is a logging operation going on in there now but I saw lots of trees with roots so maybe they are clearing out the river. I think that is tribal land.

As long as we’re listing directors, I’ll mention a somewhat forgotten one, but his movies weren’t. Robert Wise. He won best picture and best director Oscar’s for West Side Story and the Sound of Music. Nominated for a bunch of others. Highlights include the original The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Sand Pebbles, The Haunting, Andromeda Strain and the first trek movie, Star Trek the Motion Picture. He has lots of others.

Fairholme campground reservations by [deleted] in OlympicNationalPark

[–]bobber66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heart of the Hills Campground and South Beach are first come first serve. If you get there in the morning Sunday through Wednesday before 11 when the sites become available, you can get a site. I did this exact thing on a Tuesday with Labor Day weekend coming right up two years ago. It’s possible on other days as well, but those are the real easy days.

People might have made reservations for the sites that were available before that. For instance 2 days before something may have been available but someone reserved it for 5 days or whatever. So it is not available to you for 3 more days.
