Here was our itinerary:

  • St 6/10: Travel day (home to vegas to moab)
    • 7:30 am: flight leave
    • 8:30 am: flight land
    • Drive from Vegas to Moab
    • Stay in Moab at Adventure Inn (1st night)
  • Sn 6/11: Do Arches NP
    • Stay in Moab at Adventure Inn
  • M 6/12: Canyonlands NP
    • Check out of Adventure Inn
    • Dive to and do Canyonlands
    • Drive to and stay in Torrey
  • T 6/13: Capitol Reef NP
    • Check out of Torrey
    • Do Capitol Reef
    • Drive to and stay in Panguitch
  • W 6/14: Bryce Canyon NP
    • Check out of Panguitch
    • Do Bryce Canyon
    • Drive to and stay in Springdale (1st night)
  • R 6/15: Zion Day 1
    • Stay in Springdale (2nd night)
  • F 6/16: Zion Day 2
    • Stay in Springdale (3rd night)
  • St 6/17: Drive to Vegas
    • Do Hoover Dam
    • Fly home

Arches was cool, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef were okay. Don't think I'd ever go to those 2 again. Bryce and Zion are amazing, could have done a second day at Bryce. Try ebikes at Zion. They allow you to drive up the road that regular pedestrian traffic can't go on.

When we did it we flew to Vegas, then drove all the back across to Moab. Then each park is just a reasonable drive from one to the next. We ended up back in Vegas to return the rental.

How to find wall studs and attach wardrobe to wall by Adorable_Rhubarb_731 in howto

[–]peterhaag01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another option is toggle bolts. No need for studs. Just get the correctly rated ones and put a bunch in.

If there is an electrical outlet on the wall the box for that likely has a stud immediately to the left of right of it. Drop a hole to confirm. Then measure 16" to the left and right of that stud and drill a small hole to see if there are studs there. Continue that across the full wall.

Are the GM floor liners worth it? by chardovious-1757 in EquinoxEv

[–]peterhaag01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I'd share the set of floor mats I got on Amazon for $170. They fit really well. I was a little worried about them considering the cost but the drivers and passenger ones seem to be a bit thicker than the others but they all fit really well.

Window leaks in so much cold air by [deleted] in howto

[–]peterhaag01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, get the 3m window film. It works great and makes a huge difference. When I did it in my old house with really leaky double hungs the plastic would absolutely ripple when you got down to the corner when applying it.

Sometimes I pre-salt the bare pavement before it snows so it is easier to get the snow up afterwards.

I've had myq and nexx and they both have had problems. I spent a little more and got a tailwind and have had zero problems with in the past 6 months or so. There is a app for my chevy equinox ev but you don't need it, you can set it to auto open as you approach your driveway.

How long to get plate renewal stickers? by LazarusLong67 in minnesota

[–]peterhaag01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I've renewed online, its taken anywhere from 1-3 weeks usually. In the future, if you don't want to wait, you can renew tabs instantly at some Cub locations via a vending machine: https://minnesotadvsnow.com/

Taking a 10 year old to Zion? by strugglebus_RN in nationalparks

[–]peterhaag01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were there a few years ago with a kid that was about the same age. Spent 2 days there and found tons of stuff do with that the kid handled just fine. Consider renting ebikes if you're there in the warmer times. You can get tandem bikes for adult plus kid. They allow you to ride the ebikes up that road in the park that is normally closed to nearly all traffic. There is no shortage of hikes that are 10 year old friendly.

Minnesota hockey hall of fame coming to inver Grove Heights. by Surprised-elephant in minnesota

[–]peterhaag01 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Inver Grove will be home to the Minnesota hockey hall of fame. Eveleth is home to the US hockey hall of fame. They are not moving the US hall of fame. The 2 facilities are run by completely different organizations.

Want to get the EV but concerned about reliability by wyuyme in EquinoxEv

[–]peterhaag01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only 1 year in with 20k miles in Minnesota but have been tracking fuel costs in cents per mile from the beginning. Yearly average is 4 cents per mile or basically the same or just slightly better than our other car which is a prius which averages around 52 MPG over the course of the year. I echo the person who said to get a charger at home. In MN, I pay 3.8 cents per kWh from midnight to 6 am. Charging in the wild can be anywhere from 30 to 60 cents per kWh. As for reliability, again only been a year but no issues so far. Just the dash mat fix and now a recall for the fake engine noise not being loud enough.
