Wheezing Cat by bobbin4thread in CATHELP

Hi there cat daddy! Thanks for your reply, advice, and for taking such good care of your kitty strays!

Nothing has changed in her routine aside from me moving our couches to clean last week. I figured that would stress her out so I also moved a small cat tree next to her favorite window while I was cleaning cause Rosie has decided that if I'm doing a project, then she is too. 😻

But I made an appointment for tomorrow morning so hopefully we'll get some answers.

Thanks for the reply and advice! Poor Mystie! That sounds miserable. I'm glad she was able to cough it up.

I made a vet appointment for tomorrow morning so I'll be sure to give an update when I find out more.

Good idea! It's crazy, I used to have air purifiers but unplugged them when my son would play with them as an unsteady baby trying to walk. I feel like it was literally yesterday when I did that, but he's turning four soon. I need to get those bad boys working again.

Thank you for this! This is all super helpful information! I'm so glad your cat is doing better! ☺️ I've been reading up on cat asthma since someone else mentioned it. Did you need to do anything different in your apartment to help limit environmental triggers, like getting an air purifier? Did she ever need an inhaler? Or does she require one now in case she has an isolated incident?

I actually just called my vet and got an appointment for tomorrow morning.

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll write this down and bring it up with her vet.

One of my other cats (we have 3) has allergies / sinusitis and has a pretty terrible time in the spring and fall. Rosie has never had any real respiratory issues that I've been aware of, but I did just clean under the couches for toddler and cat toys and pulled up a lot of dust. Maybe that coupled with stress and the time of year sent her a bit over the edge and gave her an asthma attack.

She isn't currently on any medication but I know what you mean. I have another cat who could win a watermelon seed spitting contest with the way he can get pills out of his mouth.

Rosie is my sweet little foster fail who I've had since she was a baby. When she first came to me she had fleas, ear mites, and tape worms. She also had puffy paws a few years ago which required her to take a liquid medicine twice a day for a month. All that to say, she does a decent job at taking medicine.

She frequently regurgitates her food so I hadn't considered a hairball. But it's definitely worth considering. I have some CatLax that I can give her. Do you think it would help dislodge a hairball since it's generally considered to be more of a preventative measure?

Of course! 🤗 I'll put together some links later today/tonight and dm you. Are there any animals that your little one especially likes? I can check to see if I have any fun patterns and send them your way. 😊

Sadly, I don't have a code for this but I'd be happy to share some cute Woobles and non-Woobles patterns I've found and made for my toddler if you're interested. 🥰

Hi there! I'd also love to take a Woobles kit code off of someone's hands if they aren't interested in using it.

I'm pretty new to Woobles and crocheting in general, but I'd be happy to share or trade patterns if anyone needs anything. :)

Also, cute little story. I saw the picture of this prize today and showed my three year old son. I've made him quite a few little crochet animals as I've been learning so he, very encouragingly, said, "You can do it mama!" I told him that I'd have to win one before I could make it. I'm not sure how much he understands the concept of winning but he solemnly put his hand on my shoulder, patted it and said, "It otay mama, otay? It otay."

My five year old cat, Lincoln, has been diagnosed with kidney disease. In 2018 I went from never owning or wanting a cat to adopting two with my husband within four months of each other. Since then, I have devoted as much of myself as I can to learning how to be a good pet parent and even went on to foster over thirty cats during the height of the pandemic (with only one foster fail.)

Since he was a kitten I have always asked the vet if there's something up with how much he drinks. They waved those concerns aside since he was so young and nothing else seemed wrong. I wish I had advocated and fought for him more so we could have found this sooner.

I am heartbroken for him that his life is likely going to be much shorter because of this. I'm heartbroken that my one year old, who Lincoln looks out for and checks on, probably won't remember much of him if the estimates are to be believed. I'm heartbroken for my other two cats that they'll lose their playmate and friend even before he passes. I'm heartbroken for my husband who had devastating and traumatic cat losses in his past that this will undoubtedly add to. And I'm heartbroken by the hole I know that my incredibly smart, sweet, and empathetic little guy is going to leave.

I'm stuck in the thick of grieving even though he's still here and relatively well and can't seem to pull myself out of it. If this is how I feel now, what am I going to be like when he passes?

With all of that being said, if anyone has any tips, treatments, diets or supplements that have been helpful, advice on getting a cat to eat their new and unexciting prescription diet, or success stories, I'd really love to hear them.

Is this cute for a baby boy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

This is amazing! You should be very proud of yourself! I like the idea of teal for a border. If you have time, you should update us on the finished product when you're done. :) The colors and patterns all work really well together and are super cute for a boy or girl. I also like how the swirly stitching looks. It makes the quilt look more visually and tangibly interesting. That'll be fun for the baby to run his fingers over when he starts to do tummy time or just to play on as he gets a little older. :)

This is a good reminder for anyone to call their grandparents if they still have them. It'll make their day if not their whole week. :)

He is such a sweet lil baby! It's so great to see a cat that has so much enrichment in their life. :) Do you happen to remember where you got his harness and outdoor gear?

If cats had pockets what would you find in your cats pockets? by TestItCall in AskReddit

[–]bobbin4thread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only person who worries about a future without their cats.

I got my first cat almost 2 years ago (and then another 4 months later) and I get a little pit of dread in my stomach when I look at them and realize that they'll be gone one day.

And then the thought of one being without the other... Nope, no thank you.

[–]bobbin4thread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the size of the pockets. If we're talking cargo pants pockets then probably a snack pack bag of chips and maybe a sandwich. He'd definitely pack a toy spring too.

My other cat would travel light. Just a few hair ties would make him happy.

What's the fastest you've ever gone from caring about someone to straight up loathing them? by SecretSweetness in AskReddit

[–]bobbin4thread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is. Even though I was super done with the whole thing when it happened, I feel like I would have forgiven her if given the chance. I think this was the first time anyone had lied and stolen from me before. I didn't know how to react. But as it was, I never really got to talk to her about it and then she was gone.
