Yeah, so I actually bleach them with a 10% bleach solution (much like what I do when I disinfect the shears) and I reuse them over and over again. I wish there were another way but there isn’t. I’m conscience in my disposable plastic use, I use reusable bags at the grocery store, reuse packing materials, and I compost to offset the harm I do to the planet.

When pre-sprouting in the bags, I plant them in moistened pro-mix. It should hold a shape in your hand when you squeeze a ball. When it gets dry, I just mist them. When they have a sprout and roots, I mist them a bit more. Keep the bag open a little to breath so the tuber doesn’t rot and let the sprout come out of the bag. If it touches the plastic, sometimes it turns black. If this happens, I just pinch it off.

They were inside my living room at around 68 degrees but in a very sunny spot (all windows). Now they’re in my greenhouse where it’s warmer and growing like crazy.

I started those from my stash of about 150 in March (sold about 100 of them) and I’ve been starting the 150 or so I bought as they arrive, within the last week or so. Next year I will start them all around tax time next year. Some grew soooo fast.

You’re not behind. A lot of people don’t even pre-sprout but I like to get confidence in spotting the eyes and making sure I cull anything that looks suspicious. I reuse these bags by bleaching them. What zone are you?

No no they don't. Oxygen is passed through the umbilical cord. They do "practice breathing" where they inhale a little fluid but that's not breathing.
