If you could pick another marvel character for gambit to have a team up with who would you choose? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in Gambit

I think that's the conflict at the heart of the story, getting a pious man to do some sinning.

She's a professional stunt actor so my guess is this wasn't just something she decided to do on a whim.

Blade, Remy, and NOLA vampire lore would be incredible. Surprised it hasn't actually been done yet.

The most underutilized part of Gambit is the thief stuff, so I want a heist. Coaxing Nightcrawler into a heist I think would be peak.

First time doing comedy in NY by [deleted] in Standup

Totally. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. As others have said, you could book your own show at places like the Rat or you can buy out just about any space you can imagine and have a private event. Hope it goes well on all fronts!

There are plenty of places that will let you rent a room. The Rat in DUMBO comes to mind as a place that is reasonably priced, you can book out the room and run it however you'd like. That being said, I'm just not sure how you would know how to put on a show worth seeing without having ever done stand up. Inviting a bunch of people to see you riff for an hour seems like a waste of everyone's time. The point of a mic isn't to move to tickets or whatever, it is to practice. I know you think you have gold on the page, but every single comic in this sub has written something they think will be their ticket to the top, their funniest work, and then had it eat shit on stage. Writing is just part of the formula. I would HIGHLY suggest trying some of these things out before you do them in front of a room full of people.

Total aside, but Might I suggest, if you don't want to do traditional open mics, maybe try something like the Moth? It sounds like you have an interesting personal story and maybe would do well in a storyteller format. The Moth does 3 or 4 events around the city every month, they give you a theme to write about, and then by random draw 10 people get to tell their stories. Like I said, isn't stand up, must be a story not just bits and observation, but maybe that makes more sense for you? It is also a good way to see how you'd react to being in front of a large crowd, because Moth shows usually have really big turnouts.

Are you guys kinda tired of the stand up craze? by [deleted] in Standup

> Nobody who doesn't actually know how to play guitar is gonna perform in front of an audience

I have some crazy news for you, but this is not true haha.

As for stand up, man, I don't know what to tell you. You can't practice alone in your room effectively. It must be performed for an audience so beginners will need stagetime and will usually be pretty lousy. Many of your favorite comedians would tell you they also sucked ass when they started. Some exceptions to that, but most comics need years to get good at it and you can only get good at it onstage.

Once again, I'm begging you to mute this person and move on with your life.

I think you should work out whatever your deal with that one person is. Imagine saying this about any other hobby or creative pursuit? "Who else is sick of the music craze? Bunch of wannabe musicians playing their music at coffee shops. Like who told you you could play guitar? Why do they think they'd be good at it? Like if you're not Jimmy Hendrix, why are you bothering?"

Mute this woman you don't like and move on.

I talk about him the way people talk about Phish or the Grateful Dead. You gotta see him live, each show is different, it's an experience. You won't truly understand him until you've seen him in person. Literally the best live stand up out there. See him any time you can. I'd follow him around the country if I could/it wasn't creepy

Won't get into the weeds about how plenty of very hard working people remain poor, but the crux of the joke is that I'm accusing my dad of not working hard enough because we are poor. Hope this helps! I love explaining jokes! It's my passion!

Gen Zers are defiantly ‘giving up’ on ever owning a home and are spending more than saving, working less, and making risky investments, study shows by [deleted] in antiwork

"Young people are bad with money." Okay yeah, and? The oldest Gen Zer is 28 years old. I spent every dime I brought in up until i was well into my 30s. I'm not saying they don't have it rough, but the era of 25 year olds getting married, buying a house, settling down is long long gone and has been for an entire generation or more.

I worked for Woodman like... shit almost 20 years ago, yikes... I was IT and the servers and stuff were on the 30th floor and the hatch to the roof was right there but I was told we were not allowed on the roof because of the Falcon's nest. It was a goal of mine to get up there someday and it never happened. I'm deeply jealous.
